Best lyricist in the bay would probably be Mac Dre (RIP), Killa Tay Capone, or (old school "Drought Season" Mr. Flamboyant) E-40.

I guess it depends what kind of mood I'm in. If I feel like drivin' some iron I might slap on some Killa Tay Capone, his lyrics and delivery gets my mind right for the iron. His music is tight. You can either mob to it in your car or drive some iron.

If I feel like hearing some sick, slick punch lines and clever lyrics, I slap on some Mac Dre. Dre went off on that "Early Retirement", "I'm doper than a Bobby Brown piss test".

I used to look forward to hearing some new 40 but lately he hasn't been spittin like he used to back in the day.

Of all time id say mac dre and san quinn. Cant beleive not many people said quinn he a poet and even when he just talking in some songs it still slap because of how good his lyrics are. But right now id say young gully for sure and blast holiday & Joe blow both at 2nd.
