He was with the Dangerous Crew from Oakland along with Too $hort, Ant Banks and Goldy. He was well-respected in Oakland as a lyricist while he was alive.

It's hard to say because there's a lot of dope lyricists, but I can't really disagree on this one. I remember Mistah FAB comparing Rappin Ron to Big L on his Twitter, and it's true. Rappin Ron was a rappers rapper and underrated as a motherfucka

WHEN I FIRST MOVED 2 OAKLAND IN THE MID 90'S....I HAD THE PLEASURE OF BEING AROUND RAPPIN RON ON A DAILY BASIS BECUZ MY OLDER BROTHER HAD TIES WITH THE DANGEROUS CREW. I HAVE ENCOUNTERED MANY LYRICISTS ON THE EAST AND WEST COAST BUT I NEVER MET ANYONE WHO COULD BLOW MY MIND LYRICALLY LIKE RON. HE WAS VERY GIFTED AND A 1 OF A KIND TYPE RAPPER. HE COULD RAP ALL DAY AND NOT ONLY HAD BATTLE SKILLS BUT WAS DOPE OFF THE HEAD AND EVERYTIME HE RECORDED. HE ETCHED HIMSELF IN MY TOP 5 ALL TIME MANY MOONS AGO. I DONT LISTEN 2 RAP AS INTENSELY AS I DID BACC THEN BUT I CAN HONESTLY SAY I'VE NOT COME ACROSS ANYONE WITH THAT KIND OF EFFECT ON ME SINCE. I CONSIDER MYSELF A NICE LYRICIST AND A PERSON WITH A GOOD EAR 4 MUSIC. WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID, I BELIEVE RAPPIN RON HAD THE MOST POTENTIAL...AND WAS THE BEST MC I EVER WITNESSED IN THE "BAY AREA"....AND MAYBE EVER.
