best digital SLR camera?

i'm thinking about getting one but i needs opinions, pros/cons....i'm thinking about spending around 1000 or so in canadian funds on it.

Cannon EOS 10D goes for about a 1000 US not sure what the conversion is...it's a decent camera to start with...if you want to take motion pictures its a little slow, look into the Cannon EOS 1Ds

its just my thing, kinna like how mr drawmuh aka royalty always used a thumbs down. its just my thing. i don't care about makign movies, just clearer, sharper photos but easily transferable to a computer.
