What sport would you say produces the best athletes? Obviously there are many available choices. Participants in the Olympics, NFL, NBA, MLB (LOL), Boxing, MMA, Soccer, etc.

After much thinking, I decided that any sort of fighter would be it. Whether it be UFC, Boxing, Karate, or whatever. I believe that in the end, the only real sport that matters is who can fuck who up.

Thoughts?

The people that take part in those triathlon's have to be pretty fucking athletic. Take a look at an olympic triathlon. They swim .93 miles, then cycle for 24.8 miles, and then run for 6.2 miles. That's not even mentioning the Ironman Triathlon where they swim for 2.4 miles, cycle for 112 miles, and then run 26.2 miles. I wouldn't say they're the best, but you have to be in great shape to do that shit.

If you're only talking about the more common sports, I'd have to think about it, but I'd probably lean towards the athletes that fight for a living.

As far as pure athleticism, i would say NFL players in skill positions and LBs. Normally these guys could excel at anything. The have the perfect blend of strength, speed and endurance.

Triathletes---no. While they may be athletic, this is more of an endurance sport. Mentally challenging but not necessarily full of great athletes.

MMA - good athletes and tough as nails. Gotta be a little nuts too.

Triatholon athletes like Anaheim Rob said, and .....

NHL players (IMO)... because they must have endurance and finesse. Hockey players also must be tough so they can lay hits and take hits.(and fight) Its also a fast moving game so they gotta skate quickly and think quickly. And all this is done on ice which takes alot of leg strength and balance.

The Decathlon...

The decathlon is a menu of athletic events, testing an individual’s speed, endurance, strength, skill, and personality. The word is of Greek origin (deka [ten] +athlon [contest]). The decathlon includes five events on each of 2 successive days. The first day schedules the 100-meter run, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 400 meters. It is a day of speed, explosive power, and jumping ability. Day 2 consists of the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1500 meters. The importance of this day is on technique and endurance

It depends, as best athletes do you mean fastest, strongest and the ability to endure strenuous activity? MMA fighters are highly trained at the skill of fighting but NFL has way more athletic people. If some LB's or WR's dedicated themselves to MMA training they would dominate. I don't think any MMA fighters would be able to do anything on the field if they were to play football/

I actually punched out my brother when we were having this same debate.

There's no answer to this question b/c there are a huge array of definitions. I tend to lean towards hand-eye "ball sports" b/c they incorporate a lot of the skills possessed in non-ball sports like triathlons, cross country & track (running, jumping, strength, endurance etc) but then you are putting a ball out there and other people physically trying to stop you.

Basketball players without a doubt. The sport demands quickness (not necessarily fastness), leaping ability, coordination, agility, touch (finesse), and depth perception on a continuous basis.
