Oct. 15.

This really should be on the eastcoast but apparently there were some problems with a venue in NJ so now it's being brought to LA, which is a little strange but whatever. Cool to see Hopkins back on the West Coast.

it's going to be a tough fight for Hopkins at his age. Dawson is quick, rangy and has good power.

Chad Dawson -140
Bernard Hopkins +100

The good news for hopkins is Dawson isn't a volume puncher and from what I've noticed, he has to be perfectly set up before he lets his hands go. He simply rarely ever throws any punches unless he sets it up first. That's something Hopkins can exploit like he did against Pavlik and Tarver who are similar in that regard.

BTW LA is probably one of the worst places to put this fight. Both these guys are east coast fighters with east coast fanbases (well dawson doesn't have much of a fanbase). It's not going to sell well unless they put on a truckload of talented Mexicans on the undercard.

No one that I can recall has ever really been that effective with the jab against Hopkins.

Hopkins is great at taking away guys jabs. Winky, Pavlik, Tarver, all had great jabs. He either uses lateral movement or smothers them to nullify the jab.

Oh ya, it will be a super close fight. If anyone does end up dominating the opponent it will be Hopkins. Just because Hopkins doesn't get dominated. He loses close ones.

I think LA is a better venue than Newark, New Jersey. That wouldn't sell at all.
I'm not far at all and I won't be going unless it has a solid card.

Younger B-Hop would've taken Chad's jab away no problem, but the B-Hop that fought Pascal 2-times will be eating the jab all night. Chad is a skilled boxer in his prime that uses his jab, that spells trouble for B-Hop. Chad is J-Taylor with a better jab, bigger, better defense, and more punching power. B-Hop is in for a long night.

^^the one thing though with Dawson is I think he's weak mentally. Hopkins will look to exploit that. It will be tough no doubt about it. If hopkins wins he's clearly Fighter of the Year without question.

New Jersey is much better than L.A. Hopkins & Dawson, they don't have too many fans on the westcoast. New Jersey is a great boxing place.

Bernard is like Floyd Mayweather in that they are both great at making adjustments during the fight. I don't see Chad beating Bernard, Bernard will figure out a way to beat Chad.

Unfortunately this is an HBO ppv. They didn't want this on ppv both sides wanted regular HBO but because HBO spent most all there budget largely in part to the huge paydays Bradley and Devon Alexander got there is no other way to make the fight happen

hell yeah I'm excited. Never been to a fight outside of Washington so I figure it's the perfect opportunity to see Bhop before he retires. Even though it may turn out to be a boring fight based on styles, at least I'll get to see him fight live.

Boring = relative. I think the fact that everyone's paying attention to Hopkins fight to see whether he can sustain what he's doing or not, people waiting to see if he gets "old" all of a sudden in the ring. It's hard to be boring no matter how a fight plays out with all those things going into it.

.. and boxing shows are always fun. I'm hoping to see both Mayweather & Pacquiao fight live before they retire .. would be nice to see Hopkins as well.

.. if you all see Hopkins get pelted with these in his ring entrance .. we know where it came from ..

People think baseball is a boring sport to watch, but when you have a in depth knowledge of the sport, it becomes very fun.

That's like you and boxing. You'll have fun folks!
