Just found out about this group... Well I guess it's just one guy that writes all the music, but it's good shit. Folk/Gypsy/Eastern Europe kinda stuff. I was just telling someone it's kind of like Man Man meets opera lounge haha. But check it out.

Album:
The Flying Club Cup

And here's a vid... This guy's only 21 and writes all the music

Zack Condon (Beirut) is dope. Gulag Orkestar (his first full length) was great but The Flying Club Cup is SO much better. He sounds like a well seasoned artist on it.

Plus anyone that Jeremy Barnes is willing to play drums for is going to be good.

The video is from La Blogothèque. It's a french website that has lots of different bands from all over perform in different out of the "norm" ways. Sometimes walking down the street, spur of the moment shows, in a bathroom lol, etc. There are some pretty cool vidoes.

Here is the youtube page for their videos.

Some of my faves are the ones by Grizzly Bear, Andrew Bird, Beirut (where I found out about him actually too,) Dirty Projectors, Arcade Fire and Eagle Seagull.

I so want to see them get Man Man on their page. I'm sure it would be weird/crazy.

Yo Cory you know any more stuff along the lines of Beirut? Someone told me to check out devotchka but they're a little too eastern europe-y for my taste.

Ummmm man that's a hard one. I think most the bands that I would say are kind of along the same lines (Man Man, etc) you already know about. That's one of the things that suck about good bands that sound original, you want more that sounds the same but there really isn't anything lol.

On their (his) first albumt he drummer from Neutral Milk Hotel did the drumming so you can kind of hear their music in it. Plus you can tell that Zack is influenced by them. If you never heard their stuff check it out...really fucking great stuff.

In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is one of the best albums ever made IMO. All their other stuff is really good, but that album is just something else. The title song is fucking amazing.

Damn when that video first started I thought i was going to think it was garbage but it was pretty dope. Even if I didn't watch the video I would definitely think that was some eastern europe shit. Good stuff though, thanks.

Sick

Edit: Arg.

Live version sounds good.

Studio version just tips the scales from 'tolerable' to 'intolerable'

Edit 2: I dont really know if theres any point posting in a thread to say I dislike the music. I dont really think it adds anything.
