Wassup yall,

I've been interested in making tracks for a long time and I was wondering if any of you producers out there could help me out on some buys. I've been scecking out Musicians friend and Ebay also talking to some people that are in the field. Is there any high quality (user friendly) work stations, MPCs that yall could name for a playa?? I've built up a shopping list of equipment that looked like some good stuff and I wonder if anyone knows about them.

Yamaha PSR550 keyboard
AKAI MPC2000XL groove machine
E-MU Mo Phatt groove machine
Korg KAOSS sampler

Also I have reason 2.0 I havn't messed with it in awhile but its still pretty cool software. Does anyone have any MP3s or anything like that so I can hear some good end products of that soft ware. Thanks JP

Stuart Littles (track 3) on Mac Dre's Thizzel Washington was done mostly in reason. We added the guitar in cubase. Whoever mastered it turned up the bass way too high though.

Also, Mac Dammit Man (the last track) on Mac Dre's Mac Dammit Man was done completely in reason.

mpc2000 = greatest piece of equipment ever. if you want to make QUALITY hip hop music you either need it or the ASR-10 sequencer ...ppl on this board will call me an idiot because you can sequence with a PC or macintosh or any other number of sequencers, and many great artists do - but the timing of those machines are unique and unless you concentrate really really hard - you can barely tell the difference, but believe me - I can

mo phatt = mo SHIT...you're better off just ordering Rockwell's soundfont CD -
reason is the next synth which every dumb moron will use in the industry because it is just so smooth -

if I were you I'd get an mpc2000xl, reason, and protools

I never tested out the Yamaha 550, but I had the Yamaha PSR 530 for four years and that shit put in work. It had sicc ass presampled sounds in it for the price that I paid for it (pawn shop). The PSR series are good keyboards to start off with, so i suggest you cop that shit up.

Go with the advice that SHOHEI BABA gave you. MPCs cant be topped [period]

I actually got to mess with that psr-550 yesterday, its got some good stuff for a 600$ board like a 16 track sequencer but the keys arent touch sensitive like I want and the sounds are like a casio. Im thinking I want to spend the big money on the Yamaha Motif synthesizer, its a fuckin animal! The sounds on it are like like and the effects are hella tight. It is like 2Gz though!

Whats some stuff that is easy to learn but puts out high quality sounds?? Im interested in the Motif like I said above or the Triton series or a Korg Karma. Like I also said above those boards are hella expensive and I dont even know how to play keyboards! I feel like Im overstepping here I just want to make high quality stuff that doesnt sound like it was made in someones garage feel me. Im definatly gonna wanna invest in some piano lessons when I hit the states in a few months. Is that nessisary?? I heard the giants like Dr Dre and Timbaland dont even play paino, just highly experienced in the equipment they have, what do you think?
