What do yall think makes the song. IMO if the beat is wack and the lyrics are good, i won't listen to the song " the song being any song ".

I think the production is the ground, without great production the song will suffer regardless of how talented the artist is.

But I mean it goes both ways too, nobody wants to hear a weak rapper on an amazing beat.

What makes the song is great production and great writing and presence or flow. Not one strong the other weak, even though that can be common, those artists or producers just don't have balance yet.

Hands down... the Lyrics! But both go hand in hand, becuz you can freestyle accapella and be raw as shit... You can have a beat with no lyrics and be raw as shit... but if either one is weak, it can make the other get no attention. In Example: Canibus(raw lyrics beats suck ass), Camron(Unorthadox flow over raw as beats).

both go hand in hand, however ususally its the beat that is heard first and that is what gains my attention. if a beat is whack, i might turn it off before it even gets to the lyrics.

its gotta be a perfect ballance of the two, cuz 50 has the hottest beats to choose from, but i dont feel his shit cuz he aint talkin bout nothin. at the same time lyrics can make a weaker beat into a great song.
