There was a tread by Kameroti that was deleted and that is a shame, because it wasn't spam. He had asked about a P&D deal and not just about regional distribution like alot of people ask. This is a topic that could of became a nice discussion if people like Jt the Bigga Figga and people from Urban Life and people from Frisco Street Show and Ect got involved. So even though Kameroti's post was deleted I would like to touch on answering dudes question. This is something BAY AREA artists need to really investigate

PRESS & DISTRIBUTE deals are becoming very rare these days. It is also very hard with a P&D to track just how many units the Distributor or Label presses up. They press one amount and tell you they pressed a completely different amount. Plus they don't have to pay you when they sell out if they are pressing the product. If you press it they don't get anymore units until they have paid you. It is hard these days finding a Distributor that actually cuts you a check.

Now to answer your question. For the first one I am going to go a completely different route then everyone in the Bay Area is going and tell you to holla at Marc at Long Range Distribution. Marc is doing more then Horrorcore now. His number is 248-582-0555 and the site is www.longrangedistribution.com

You can also go the normal route of City Hall Records,SMC or trying to get Showtime/Frisco Street Show, Ryan Miller/Rapbay.com or Jt the Bigga Figga/Get Low Recordz to buy you out up front.

There is also R-N-D Distribution (Byron) in Texas, and Select-O-Hits (Wes) in Tennessee. If your project has enough buzz they do P&D deals.

Your next step after that would be KOCH, Warlock or TVT.

Good Luck,

Thanks Indecent & Krypto. Some people just don't know. There is straight up distribution where you just consign your Cds to a Distribution Company or One Stop, there is Press & Distribute Deals, there is Press, Distribute and Marketing Deals. People don't know the difference between a Distributor and a One Stop, or what each one does. I even hear alot of people call KOCH, TVT, Tommy Boy, Rawkus and Warlock "MAJOR" Labels, when they are infact Independent Record Labels with their own Distribution Network/Division.
The more people know, the more they will get when they walk their product into the channels. You only get what they "FEEL" you are worth. The more knowlege you have going in the more you get put on the table upfront and on the back end.

Yeah I am glad that I caught it and was able to see it and remember what it was about before they deleted your post. You seem like you are on your way. Just put together the most detailed and professional business plan and marketing plan that you can. If you are getting BDS spins that are truly registering, then the Major Label researchers will come calling, if you keep the buzz going then the A&R Reps will get at you, if you keep the buzz going past that then some real A&R Managers will reach out to you. BEST WISHES.
