San Francisco, CA -- The Battle of the Champions '08 kick-off will be held at the San Francisco Design Center on October 18th. This will be the first leg in a empowerment global tour that will pit DJ's throughout California against local talent as they compete for cash awards, sponsorships and other prizes – all while raising money and awareness for senior citizens, youth literacy, animal rights and community advocacy groups.
Ten individuals will have eight minutes to display their turntable artistry in the turntable music genres of Drum and Bass, R&B, Old School, Alternative, Electro, Reggae, House, Pop, Hip-hop, Breaks. A selected panel of judges will be on hand to choose the top performers based on on originality, technique, musical composition, stage presence and crowd response in five round throughout the evening.
Idunno Films, the event's organizers, are expecting a full-capacity crowd of 1,600 to be on hand. A boutique production company, Idunno Films aims at community building for change and empowerment through grassroots campaigns and events. "We are what we place our attention to," explains Evelyn Domondon - the event's executive producer – "When we allow love to be our focus of life, we expand this synergy in our every day activities."
