you gotta be fucking kidding me. what kinda pansy ass shit is this. no wonder our country is a bunch of pussies nowadays. we're worried about hurting kids "feelings" and "self-esteem". you might as well ban cheering as well. "trying to create a more welcoming environment on the field and on the court." didnt someone post something like this before about schools banning kids from playing tag on the playground?

i found that too, deep thought posted it a few years back

Sportsmanship is not confined solely to the players of the game. In armature sports and especially those involving young people special attention should be paid due to the damage that can be done.

Children playing armature sports don’t get paid and don’t do it for a living; thus should not be subject to the same atmosphere as professional adults. Youth sports are supposed to offer our young people an outlet to learn and grow as individuals and as teammates. Negative reinforcement not only undermines these values, but can be damaging to children emotionally. The stresses of competition, juggling sports with school with social life, and the rigors of athletic activity should be enough to put on young people’s shoulders. They don’t need rowdy “adults” cursing them from the stands heaped on top of it all.

Like I said: "Sportsmanship is not confined solely to the players of the game."

you my friend are a pussy ass bitch. so what happens when your sheltered child gets good at the sport. then they have a chance to move on and play professionally but cant because their thong-clad father wouldnt let them learn how to compete in a hostile environment. by the way this has nothing to do with "cursing" them. this is a LAW to ban BOOING. cursing at kids in jr high from the stands is ridiculous. but were talking about booing. why dont we make it a law that fans of the opposing team have to cheer whenever ANYBODY scores? that way everybody is comfortable in their tutus.

high school is a transition to adulthood

its about booing period. adult child doesnt matter. if youre at a high school basketball or football game the rule goes like this.

if you dont have something nice to say dont say anything at all because little johnnys fragile self esteem might somehow be damaged.

I'm with Deadpool on this subject.

Those kids don't get paid, aren't doing it for a living, or any of the fucking above. They are doing it as a HOBBY...something they LIKE to do because it makes them HAPPY...being told you're a worthless piece of shit, is not going to make most people happy, and that's the type of shit that parents yell at games, and STUDENTS CAN'T EVEN TALK LIKE THAT AT SCHOOL!

I think the "booing" ban is stupid, but yelling profane phrases and such at kids, is psychologically damaging, whether or not anyone wants to agree, it's true. All you gotta do is read up on the basics and it's pretty easy to grasp.

Everyone has emotions, some people just learn to shut them off earlier than others, and that leads to lack of communication about everything from feelings to whatever....people need to be able to communicate effectively, otherwise nothing positive will ever fucking be accomplished.

SORRY BUT THE TOPIC WAS NOT ABOUT CALLING KIDS WORTHLESS PIECES OF SHIT. THATS A DIFFERENT GAME THAT I DONT AGREE WITH. BUT TO OUTLAW BOOING IS RIDICULOUS. IF THEY REALLY CARE ABOUT THE KIDS SELF ESTEEM THEY WOULDNT EVEN KEEP SCORE.

Define booing. I am a highschool and we boo but in more fancy and alienating ways. Going along with that idea though, we also do plenty of other chants and actions that have nothing to do with booing. If it were to broaden to alienating or inappropriate actions, how would they enforce it?
The entire student body at our hockey games, about 100+ persons, would not stop even in 3 cops came and told us to knock it off. Fact is, we realize we got 100 students and they couldn't kick out all of us. If they did, significant portions of revenue would be lost. Even if it were to pass, i see no means of enforcement.
