Hey man you haven't listed YOUR budget and how much cash YOU'RE working with. $200 to blow on gear isn't much to some of us. $200 on gear may be a little too much for some of us. Each situation is different. you listed the following:
MIC PRE
MIC
COMPUTER
now knowing this you have several things to consider. Ask *yourself* the following:
"Since I have a mic and mic pre and have recorded vocals (or plan to) would it make sense to TUNE and TREAT my room or make a booth?"
"Since I have a computer and most likely have a software sequencer (cubase, dp3,logic, pro tools) would it make sense to purchase an mpc?"
"Do I need a keyboard workstation when I can use soft synths and VST instruments?"
"Do I need a trillion dollar converter when my set up is small and don't know what the hell a converter ACTUALLY does?"
"Do I have a pair of DECENT monitors?"
"Do I want to duplicate my own cd's instead of hitting a duplication plant? If so what type of duplicators or stampers should I look into?"
"Should I sit in the garage when a car is running (with no ventilation) and suffer from carbon monoxide poisoning?"
Like Sick said its all on YOU and what YOU are trying to do. It's on YOUR budget. Finally its on YOUR ability to LEARN and YOUR ability to TRANSFER whats in YOUR head (the beats, melodies etc etc etc you hear in your dome) to the euipment you have.
Lets say you have $1000 to spend. Would it be BEST to spend that loot on a converter? I wouldnt. I would buy a couple of sound modules (used emu modules go for 300-400 a pop) or a workstation (alesis qs6 or something used)
Be cool man.
@SICK do you have a list yet pimpin?????????
