you can use automation passes and eq the real bad ones out but you can never really eliminate it when its already there though just mask it a little. try having your artist back off from the mic a little bit. Also try de essing to tape

what would be sick, but i doubt anyone would do is, take an accapella i make, and clean it up, so they could specifically tell me how to fix these problems i keep running into, based upon the actual suverety, and the actual mic im using

A. Tilt the mic in a different direction or stand to the side to elimate some sibilence.

B. You can eq them out by side chaining a compressor and eq or you can use an eq that allows you to roll off specific high frequencies without ruining the others.

C. Automation passes = Automating the ess sounds, and this is my preferred way of doing it but you need to do this LAST because if you automate and change the volume things are screwed up.

D. De-essing to tape = recording with the de-esser armed or on.

-------------------------------------------------

Change mics if possible, tilt to the side, stick a piece of gum at the roof of your mouth.

I figure it wouldn't be too different from pro tools. You would make an audio track, insert the deesser plug in (which is post fader), Record the track then create and Aux and buss the track over to the aux track and there you go I'm pretty rusty with my pro tools but I'm pretty sure that is how its done. I don't know shit about cool edit though, its probably pretty much the same the layouts of those 2 programs are almost identical

Yeah are you recording in a booth or somewhere in your house? your voice may be bouncing offa walls making your signal out of phase making the ssses sound even worse. maybe change your position

the gum i never heard before, great idea

Trial and error is the best way to become good at this.

To eq them out like hersey was saying you have a compressor with an eq side chain you find the frequency thats bother some its going to be in the 1-4k range if i'm not mistaken just poke around till you find it filter that particular frequency, not too much though maybe -3db at the most set your compressor to peak at where those esses are fucking up your track, usually your gonna see those things spike. that aughta help. hope fully i'm explaining myself right like i said before I'm rusty in the art of recording

no booth, im in my bedroom, and im guessingpro tools is way different cause none of the things u said made sence to me, i appriciate the attempt though, im gonna try the gum, lol, its the weirdest one, so it will probably be the one that works for me, about the echo though, i feel u i]on that, cause i can hear the echo in this room, but i cant do anything about that, thats why i was hoping there was a way i could fix it with the software. thanx again everyone

you probably just don't really understand basic recording terminology cuz thats all I said no offense. It is a science and it is very technical and you gotta know this kind of shit to be good at it. Alot of it is trial and error but there is alot of skill involved and knowing the ins and outs of your hard ware and software

yes, i agree, i just started fixing up my vocals, like 2 weeks ago, seriously, thats why im asking all these questions, so no offense taken homie, lol, but if there is anyone here that is framiliar with cool edit pro, or anyone that could upload me a copy of pro tools, or if its too big, would sell me the program on cdr(s) for cheap, i would appriciate any of these things

you can use pro tools without one of their interfaces or an M-Audio one and I'm pretty sure it has an I-Lok authorization key.

converters ensure the cleanest transfer from analog to digital. The better your converter the cleaner transfer your signal will be

any dynamics plug ins will change your sound, you just have to find out by trial and error to see what suits you best but honestly a solid preamp is the best way

You need software and an interface to use pro tools so no you one can just give it to you, besides the fact that i pay for my software you should do the same. you can be introduced to the world of pro tools for probably 500 bucks. If you are serious about audio and want to record you are going to have to make some investments into your craft. people with pirated copies of FL and cool edit pro come a dime a dozen
