you might have a loose plug. If theres no compression it probably wont start.

worse comes to worse you fucked up your starter/alternator.

**did you check your gas gauge? lol**

Check your firing order I don't remember if a Caprice has Direct Ignition or a distributor, if it has direct ignition.... most likely you got wires crossed over same with distributors.

the gas is half full.............

the starter and alternator should be cool cus i disconnected the battery before i worked on it...........

the wires shouldnt be crossed cus i do one plug/wire at a time............

i had my girl start the car while i pressed down on the wires on the distributer cap, still nothin..............

im thinkin maybe bad plug wires? or one bad wire? how do you check wires? i've heard different ways. i have an ohm reader but i dont realy know how to use it..........

Check and see if you replaced that little metal piece that goes in the cap, its like a little bent piece of metal, my buick wouldn't start cause the mechanic forgot to put it in

If you don't do a lot of tuneups you might not even noticed it fall out or even paid attention to it

Does anyone know what I'm talkin about and can explain it better

Its a little flat piece of metal that makes a connection in the dist. Cap

Last time I posted in a car repair thread here on the siccness, my car broke down within an hour. Oh well.

A lot of people just need to clean the posts, and/or the wires from the post. You can get some juice through to power the console lights, radio etc..., but to start the vehicle it requires more juice than the other aspects of a cars electronics system. Many times it's as simple as that.

The most prevalent question in this thread should be "What kind of motor do you have?"

So, what kind of motor do you have? 350, 305, 3.8?

You probably bumped one of your vacuum lines running to the intake.

To check that the wires are good you can use a multimeter and check the impedance. I don't know what it should be but you should be able to look that up somewhere or you can just put the old wires back on and see if it runs. My sister bought some plug wires and tuned her car up and it ended up running worse because the wires were garbage but I don't know if it would actually cause the car not to start but its worth checking.

get the multimeter, set it to VDC (volts direct current) then set it to the closest to 12 volts you can.. which i think is 20

then put the black on one side and red on the other.

I dont think the wires have much of an effect.. its the caps that do.. the wires just run the voltage. Its the connection you wanna be worried about.

u prolly unplugged the s.p.wires all at once instead of changing each plug one at time.
