Just curious what the general opinion is for or against.

I am adamantly against it, especially with Alan Mulally & Dick Wagoner refusing to forgo or take a cut in their pay. Not to mention years of lobbying by the auto industry against building more fuel efficient cars etc. These companies have created their own destruction and are still opposing changing.

Politicians and Ceo's are in a club we're not in and will never be in. The only people that suffer are the tax payers. Michigan is already dealin with huge unemployment, I've lived their and saw first hand what happened when GM shut down thousands of jobs. This bailout wouldn't secure their jobs.

The picture that speaks a thousand words is when each arrived in their private jet, that round trip cost around 20,000 per private jet, when a first class ticket would have been 987. They were asked if each would be willing to sell their jets on the spot and return flying commercial and not one raised their hand as was highlighted for the record.

No use in helping them its just going to create a cycle of failure. In America families rise and fall all the time, nobody is more special than the other. The Japanese were on top of their shit, U.S wasn't, they got complacent now its time for a new administration.

Wow, I knew the majority of people were against, but I am still suprised the sentiment is this strong.

The fact that they lobbied against building better cars higher MPG (amongst many other poor decisions) in this day and age says it all to me.

I don't freggin' know anymore... it's like butter and margerine. one day one is better for you, the next day a new study says the other is better.....

you wanna say 'eff 'em' let 'em rot, as the executives should, especially b/c they have been so resistent to fuel efficient technology, but on the labor side of things, every 1 job lost on the assembly lines affects 7.5jobs on the trickle down

If you bail out companies like AIG then why not Ford, GM, and Chrysler?

That's what I mean by context. Add in the employment factor and they are probably more deserving of the bail out money.

This is a good opportunity for them to put conditions on it.
