I'VE NEVER BEEN TO ANY PROFESSIONAL FIGHTS YET, AND I BEEN REALLY WANTING TO GO. I WAS JUST CURIOUS HOW MANY OF YALL HAVE BEEN OR GO REGULARLY, AND CAN SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES. LIKE HOW MUCH WERE YOUR SEATS, AND HOW CLOSE WERE THEY, ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHICH ORGINIZATIONS ARE THE BEST TO SEE, HOW MUCH DID IT COST TOTAL, DID YOU MEET ANYBODY, GET ANY COOL SOUVENEERS, ETC. (IM MORE OF AN MMA FAN BUT I'D BE DOWN TO SEE SOME BOXING IF THE PRICE IS REASONABLE)

...SO PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES WHILE ATTENDING A FIGHT. I'M LOCATED IN SANTA ROSA (NOR CAL) AND AS FAR AS I KNOW THE CLOSEST PLACES TO GO WOULD BE SACRAMENTO AND SAN JOSE. (AND I THINK THERE'S BEEN UFC FIGHTS IN OAKLAND)

Well I have been to:

UFC 65 GSP Vs Hughes II--At the time I paid 65 for upper deck in Sacramento, they are much more nowadays though. James Irvin was with his girl when she was smoking and I saw him. Also just walking around where the concessions are, we saw Randy Couture and that dude is big, a lot bigger than on TV lol. He was in a hurry. It was a good time, don't think I would get seats that far away again though.

StrikeForce/EliteXC Cung Le Vs Frank Shamrock-- We had lower seats about 15 rows up from where they walk out, not bad seats and they were only like $80 and StrikeForce puts on good shows (or at least they did). I didn't meet anyone here but was still a good time.

StrikeForce Diaz Vs Frank Shamrock--This was a good event as well, we had lower seats, the top of the lower section but they were almost center with the cage so it was good and they were like $100. We saw Ryan Bader and Jamie Varner there and they talked with fans for quite some time. Real good time at this one.

I have also been to a smaller show in Stockton that Nick Diaz was going to headline but his Brother Nate headlined instead. This was a no name company and a year or more before Nate went on the ultimate fighter. The tickets were way off to the side of the cage and the place was not no where near packed, I think we paid like $35-$45 for tickets, was not really that great of a show. Nate subbed his dude in the first and I think the best fight that night was these chicks, one chicked KO'ed this other chick something viscios.

MMA events are exciting, except you will run into some huge dbags from time to time. At the UFC I went to, I was coming back from getting a beer and this drunk dude was sitting in my seat, his friends and his seat were in front of us. I was trying to be somewhat cool and just tell the guy to get up but my cousin had other plans lol. My cuz told this dude to get the fuck up and started in on him lol, his friends all said aww he's just drunk blah blah blah, well my cousin didn't give a fuck so he told those guys the same. Then these guys said something like, "what you really want to take all 5 of us on" I didn't even get a chance to say anything my cousin just says "well if that's the way it's got to be then, let's go" lol. These dudes cold shut the fuck up, funny as hell.

Another great thing about MMA events is the women, damn there's some good looking women there and half dressed half the time. The 2 StrikeForce events I went to were both in San Jose and that is the best place IMO, it's big enough to get a good feel of everything but not too big where you have to have $$$$$ tickets to get a good seat.

i seen pac / morales 3. payed 200 bucks and i got seats like between 9 or 15 seats away from the balcony which cost 100. i can see everything very well. it's like a silent movie your really into it with the crowd but you don't hear the punches land or corner talk. if you go it's really for the experience. you do see stars / other or former boxers.

i'd say go at least once or twice to see what it's about. they show about 6 fights before the main event and it's like 3 more than what they show on t.v. a lot of girls / guys your age and a few old folks. kinda like going to a club with a few old folks mixed in there.

shirts and shit like that cost 20 and up. food is just like the movies.

as for me going to another one after seeing and experiencing one big fight i'd rather watch it on t.v. or go to a smaller event like a indian casino.

I went to Trinidad/Mayorga at Madison Square Garden, Vasquez/Marquez 1 in Carson and Pacquiao/Clottey in Dallas. 2 of those were pay per views and 1 was a fight of the year candidate so I've been pretty lucky to go to those.

It can be better to watch them on tv but to me, it's always cool to go and watch it later on tv to refresh your memory of what it was like. 2 of the times I had seats on the floor and the vasquez/marquez fight was a small and really good venue and I could've still worked my way into better seats.

Some of the most fun for me going to a fight is getting to meet a lot of people you wouldn't otherwise meet. I've met a grip of boxers and celebrities which is hard to do unless you have good seats. I've seen some good seats and the match ups are really the most important.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go to a fight that's gonna be a blow out or has a crappy undercard and just has 2 "name" fighters on the main event. Get your money's worth if you're gonna come outta pocket. Your experience is relative to the venue and the matchup. 3 of the best experiences of my life were going to fights.

Really any fights are cool to go to, just the experience is nice. I went to this small Amateur/Pro kickboxing event at the doubletree hotel in Sac and had a great time. One of the girls from my sons Kajukenbo class was fighting and it was obviously a pretty small venue, but $30 for ringside and it had like 10+ fights. The crowd was into it, there just a good time. Plus both my kids got to go to this one and they enjoyed it as well.

THANKS FOR THE RESPONSES YALL.

I FEEL YALL ABOUT SAYING SOMETIMES IT'S BETTER TO WATCH ON TV, I'VE FELT THAT WAY ABOUT A COUPLE OF SPORTS EVENTS MYSELF. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS: I WOULD BE DOWN TO SPEND LIKE 150-200 FOR A GOOD SEAT, BUT THERE'S ALWAYS ONE OF MY FRIENDS WHOLL BE BROKE AND WANT CHEAP SEATS. BUT I WANT TO GO WITH AT LEAST LIKE 4 OR 5 OTHER FRIENDS.

@YOCAREA LOL THATS A FUNNY STORY BOUT U AND UR CUZZO. I WOULD IMAGINE IT'D BE ALOT OF WHITEBOY MEATHEADS AT MMA EVENTS, IM NOT REALLY TRIPPIN OFF THAT. I'VE WATCHED FIGHTS AT THE BARS BEFORE I DOUBT IT WOULD BE ANY WORSE

CYBORG I HAVE SEEN YOU TALKING ABOUT EVENTS YOU'VE GONE TOO, IM HELLA JEALOUS LOL. MY BOY ACTUALLY FIGHTS AROUND HERE, AND HE ALWAYS GETS OFFERED FREE SHIT, ETC... I WAS SUPPOSED TO GO TO VEGAS TO SEE HIM FIGHT, BUT IT ENDED UP GETTING CANCELED.

@CHRISSHOGG HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY FOR YOUR SEATS? AND I FEEL U ABOUT SEEING A CARD THAT HAS DECENT FIGHTS ALL THE WAY THROUGH, THAT SHIT IS LIKE SHOWING UP TO A CONCERT AND EVERYBODY SUCKS UNTIL THE LAST PART

I THINK I WILL BE AIMING AT A STRIKEFORCE IN SAN JO OR SAC, BUT I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE A UFC TOO. THERE'S ALREADY BEEN A BUNCH OF TIMES WHERE I WAS SUPPOSED TO GO TO FIGHTS, IM A BIG FAN OF THIS SHIT AND I BEEN DYIN TO SEE SOME FIGHTS LIVE.

i went to the ufc in boston back in august. it was a pretty cool experience, had great seats where i only had to look up at the big screen like 2 or 3 times and i sat like 20 feet away from all the celebs that were there and thiago and his FINE ass bitch sat about 3 seats from me. also went to the expo where i met tons of fighters and a couple other people, i think that was the funnest part of the whole experience as long as you take it for what it is and dont hound the shit out of the fighters like most people did.

I've been to numerous fights live, both MMA and boxing.

My favorite ones are in Vegas. Honestly, there is nothing like the buzz in Vegas during a big fight weekend. The whole strip has this electricity about it.

If you're going to a live event, don't worry about getting great seats if money is a concern. You aren't there for a great view, because if that was the case, then TV beats live every time. You're going for the atmosphere, and you'll get that sitting just about anywhere.

@ tazz, I got free tickets for the NY fight because Don King donated some to the military like 2 days before the fight. They were $500 floor seats that were going for a 1000 on fight night. Cool story breh.

For vasquez/marquez I paid 50. There really wasn't a bad seat for that fight.

For Pacquiao/Clottey, we had $100 seats and me and a few homeboys went. We were supposed to be on the 3rd level and basically would've ended up with a crappy view of the big screen watching the fight. We ended up sneaking down to the floor level and I met countless people and took so many pictures that night with people I would've never otherwise met. Where we sat were 700 seats. I got to take a picture with my back touching the ring, and I was like 2 feet from Pacquiao when the fight was over. This night was unbelievable. Dana white was there too and my homeboys got pics with him but I didn't care enough to take a pic with him.

you also have to consider the venue you're going to. In Vegas, most of those places are made for boxing and work for MMA as well obviously. If you're going to see a fight in an arena, your seats might suck if you don't pay attention to where they are if you're back in a corner somewhere.

I've heard from people that have attended boxing and MMA events and some that were more of an MMA fan that a big boxing fight is better than going to an MMA fight. There's an "electricity" in the air. I've only been to boxing events and it's hard to describe. I've been to other big sporting events and there's nothing like being at a big boxing fight.

I WAS ACTAULLY THINKIN ABOUT GOIN TO ONE IN VEGAS NEXT TIME I GO, THAT'D BE SICK. IF IM NOT MISTAKEN I THINK PRETTY NICE HOTELS THERE ARE LIKE 50-60 BUCKS CERTIAN. AND THERE'S A SMALL AIRPORT IN SANTA ROSA THAT MAKES TRIPS TO WASHINGTON, ARIZONA AND VEGAS SO THAT WOULD BE COOL. ONLY THING IS IM A RECOVERING ALCAHOLIC LOL BUT I THINK IT'D STILL BE HELLA FUN

I THINK IF I GO IMA GET WHATEVER KIND OF SEATS, DOSENT MATTER HOW FAR AS LONG AS THEYRE NOT IN LIKE THE CORNER OR SOMETHING, LIKE YALL SAID I THINK ITS THE WHOLE ATMOSPHERE THAT MATTERS THE MOST.

I've not been to a ufc event, but have been to countless shows.

most memorable: fedor vs arlovsky, and faber vs pulver 1.

and yes, the bitches are fucking cool. Cool events to attend, regardless of how expensive tix you get.
