I want all of your feedback on who you think are the hottest producers in hip-hop, and what makes you like them. It doesn't matter where they are from, just why is their music hot. Let me know your thoughts.

I really dig Happy P's production these days, cause he uses a lot of live instruments. Slick guitar licks, congas, real hand claps, just laidback shit with tight analog basses to. His tracks are always clean and crispy and just makes me feel good. I also dig all the r'nb singin' he be addin' on his tracks. Russel Lee is tight on them hooks! Baby Beesh are also making Happy P's tracks 100% slammin' with his crazy rappin' and singin'.

I think there's a lot of shitty production these days.
I really miss them good ol' music days back in -93 when Spice 1 dropped, 187 He Wrote where you had an album with only slammin' tracks.

Other producers that i think are heated at this point in time;
- E-A-Ski --> Always servin' something original.
- Battlecat --> His basses and percussion, it's just mad crazy.
- Fredwreck --> I like his variety of style.
- Damizza --> Good old summertime LBC shit.
- Sean T --> Heavy bumpin' production.
- G Man Stan --> The king of tight feely Bay Area guitar licks!

Just Blaze

For the reason why, just listen to the last three songs ("Mom Praying", "Still Got Love For You" and "What Your Life Like 2") on The Reason from Beanie Sigel. His tracks add so much emotion to those songs, it's ridiculous.

I'm really into lyrics, but in order for me to really listen to a song and want to dissect the lyrics, the track has to be strong. If not, I just don't pay attention (example: Canibus). Blaze's tracks pull me in and make me listen.

Jake One - coming correct with his boombastic glory day hip hop type ish with a twist of newness that could be marketable.

Kanye West - is the best cat out period. He's got this organic type sound that's big and bumps, always flips samples correct. revolutionized the way cats picked their production after the work on Jay-Z Blueprint (which i consider classic).

Just Blaze - same reasons as Kanye West. He can also make those New York street club bangers that are keyboardy. Real catchy sound.

Neptunes - whoever doesn't like them is just a hater. That's all I gotta say. Flip that hip hop, rock, pop, watever it may be. Real catchy ass sound that's original. Been feelin em since NORE's Superthug. They did quite a few jawns on Justin Timberlake's album. I got a promo advance copy. Let me tell you, go cop it. I'm dead serious.

Dr. Dre - we all know why.

DJ Quik - we all know why. He gets respect but i dont think he gets enough for what he's done.

Hi-Tek - if you don't know go listen to Reflection Eternal. Raw boombap shit, laid back smooth shit, RnB type jawns. Flips his samples properly.

Timbaland - repetitive at times. but simply innovative.

DJ Premier - Legendary.

Other cats:
DJ Spinna (go listen to J LIVE)
Domino (Hiero)
Stoupe
Large Professor
Earthtone III
Organized Noize
Chops (my boy)
ILLmind (my producer)
Boskeez
Rick Rock
Warren G

too many to name really.

Battlecat: unique bass sounds, lots of variation on the keys, always chooses a good blend of synth patches. Doesn't just loop 2 bars and call it a day. Unfortunately not that great on talkbox.

DJ Quik: Always with the funky guitars. Bass is smooth, fairly simple, but good movement. Very good percussion (especially the flexitone and triangle). Usually very good on talkbox.

Mike Dean: Very versitle, but good with guitars and a lot of variation in his leads. Can be very emotional (see Smile)

Mike Mosley and Sam Bostic: Funk mob. Always had very FULL sounding tracks, with synth basses and slap basses together. Unique sounds and good use of 808 percussion. Always made classic 40 material.

@ Everyone

I appreciate your input. I am just trying to see what cats are feeling these days. Most of the people on those lists are pretty much the people that I am also feeling as well. Also, thanks for the props as well. Keep it coming, I would like to get somemore feedback from you.

DJ QUIK might be my favorite because all of his albums he does most of the producing and playing the instruments himself. WAY TOO FONKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
