ASCAP/Radio Play

I don't know if I should be posting this in this forum or the Music Industry forum, move it if it needs to be moved...

I have this dude that I made a beat for, in which he did a song to that he "claims" that he can get radio play for. I told him that if he wants he can buy the beat from me. My question is, can I, and if so how can I see royalties from ASCAP through radio play of the song? Is this possible?

***I know about how to register the song/composition with ASCAP and what not already.

^If he does a work for hire he will only be paid that one set amount,if he creates a legitiment contract,he (the producer) will be able to collect royalties.Not positive but I think thats how it worls.
