A's and Major League Baseball host "Rally Monday" on Monday, Oct. 2
Fan rally in downtown Oakland to build excitement for the ALDS

OAKLAND -- In celebration and anticipation of the upcoming baseball playoffs, the Oakland A's and the Oakland City Center are hosting "Rally Monday," presented by Bank of America, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 2. Major League Baseball has officially designated this day as "Rally Monday," with all eight clubs involved in postseason play staging fan rallies in each of their cities on the eve of baseball's second season.

Oakland A's broadcaster Glen Kuiper will serve as host of the event with former A's players Vida Blue, Bert Campaneris, Dave Henderson, Carney Lansford, Billy North, John "Blue Moon" Odom and Dave Stewart making guest appearances. Festivities include live music performed by Bay Area cover band Wonderbread 5. Fans will have the opportunity to win tickets to the upcoming American League Division Series along with game used memorabilia. Admission is free and all fans in attendance will receive a 2006 postseason rally towel and autographed items by current and former A's players.

Since 1968, the Oakland Athletics have won four World Series titles (1972-74, 1989) and six American League pennants (1972-74; 1988-90), 14 AL West Division championships (1971-75; 1981; 1988-90; 1992; 2000; 2002-03; 2006), along with one Wild Card appearance (2001). Only the Atlanta Braves (16) and New York Yankees (15) have won more division championships and only the Yankees have won more World Championships (6) and league pennants (10) during that span.

A limited number of individual game tickets for the ALDS games involving the Oakland Athletics at McAfee Coliseum are available at the stadium box office, over the web at oaklandathletics.com and by calling (877) 493-BALL. Single-game tickets are priced at $55 for MVP, $50 for Field Level, $45 for Plaza Infield, $40 for Plaza Level, $30 for Plaza Outfield and $20 for Plaza Reserved and Bleacher seats. Game dates and times are to be determined and tickets purchased for any unplayed games are refundable.
