godaddy has excellent support, you can buy your domain and your hosting through them. you can find cheaper hosting anywhere else but godaddy will always be there and online.

buy your domain at any of the known places, I like the interface at dynadot.com, namecheap and godaddy both look like shit as far as the interface goes.

For hosting, it depends on how much bandwidth you're gonna use and how much space you need, I know a few people that use hostgator.com for a basic site and they're decent. I'd give yahoo hosting a try though, they have some pretty good deals as far as bandwidth/storage goes. I dont know anyone whos ever used them though so cant say how good they are.

you can buy it all at one place if you want... I've just heard bad things about godaddy, like them deleting your websites with absolutely no notice or reason... someone can complain you have a picture of theres up there and its copyrighted and godaddy will disable your account.

Then when you question them theyll just point you to the section of there terms that basically says "we can do whatever we want".

I recently bought a domain at 1and1.com. I payed about 20 something dollars for 6 months to try it out. I don't like the fact that you need to pay $10 more a month to use their web design builder in order to change and add HTML code. Its been ok so far but they don't have many templates to start off with. Im building my Portfolio from scratch at this point.
