Anyone here use Cockos "Reaper" as a host? If so, what you guys think about it? I've seen it get a lot of praise around the internet and comparable to Cubase.
Wouldn't compare it to Cubase, at all. I don't know much about the program but I know a new version of it was released a month or so ago, that's when I found out about Reaper. Looks like an independent development, could become something cool.
Might be, because the GUI definitely looks like Acid. I tried Reaper a long ass time ago when it was free and barely came out. Now it looks like it has evolved into a beastly program.

It seems like new versions are released atleast once a week. I hit up Kvr-audio a lot to check out what's new and I always see it in the news section. BTW, I think it has already become something cool. Judging by the forums on Kvr, seems like so many people use it now.
I'm trying it out as an alternative to Cubase...All of my VST/VSTi's are in my Cubase directory though and I can't figure out how to open them in Reaper....any help?
well usually you would have a directory the program looks in for all vsts like mine was "Program Files/VSTPlugins" you would just tell it to look in there if yours is "Program Files/Cubase/VST" then tell it to look there.
yeah when I make a new track and click "FX" it just gives me the default folder with VSTs...There isn't a browse option I can see that allows me to select the Cubase folder
edit scratch that it doesn't recognize usb keyboards what type of shit is that
update - i just got it working i went up in the online forum. the program is cool just gotta learn it. still aint found nothing for producing better than reason. they need to make reason 5 be VSTI compatible
