I'm thinking about switching over from at&T and I'm wondering about the coverage and clarity of sound when on the cellphone. I don't trust those brochure maps one bit.
Right now I'm on one of the pay as you go plans that I should have dropped a long, long time ago.

All good if this turns this into a "why I love/hate my cellphone network" discussion just post up some info or a reccomendation :siccness:

I had boostmobile for a few years, i never had a problem with service or call clarity anywhere, in fact when I visited Nevada I had service going through the mountains when some other people with other plans didnt. I had it on automatic top-up thing, so everytime my balance got below $5 it would add $15 to my account, but I dont use the phone much so it was ok for me, it only costed between $15-$30 a month, if you dont use the phone a ton its a good service.

I had it and got rid of it. I was unable to make any phone calls period for over a week, it kept saying all circuits were busy or some shit, i had like somewhere between 40-100$ left in my prepaid balance and when i finally was able to call again it was at 0$, and they did not refund me and essentially hung up on me. When people try to call you its some "PLEASE WAIT WHILE THE NEXTEL SUBSCRIBER IS LOCATED" bullshit every time, theyre lucky if it only takes 5 seconds to start ringing you. and then you wont even get the call. your phone will beep and youll look at it and youll have 7 missed phone calls over the past 3 hours even though you were constantly checking your phone. then twenty minutes later it'll beep at you and youll discover you have 10 new voicemails, some of them over a week old. you dont get text messages for 2-3 hours, if you're lucky, sometimes a day or two. you lose all reception by simply walking indoors. shit even walking under a big enough tree

oh but the walkie talkie works no matter what, because its a walkie talkie network and not a cellphone network. i only knew 3 ppl that used push to talk at the time tho, and it wasnt worth the dollar a day just to walkie talkie them for 20 seconds every other day

I constantly had that problem with AT&T a few years back. And actually I found out that it possibly could have to do with using a damaged phone more than the actual network. I had a samsung a707 that a homie gave to me and when I went to the store to complain and see whats up they actually told me that I needed a new phone. I was more than skeptical & frusterated but ended up trying out an old razr someone left around and I never heard those annoying robot voices and beeps again.

Still leaning towards BoostMobile.
Trying to research on the net right now if you can adjust phones meant for other companies to work with the boost network.

i buy my phones at 7-11...
So far mine have came from either friendly hand me downs, d-bay (term for the tweeker ebay/fleamarket if you will lol), or I've actually just found laying around.

my first celly was actually a faultychip from the 916. Dude's dad had a business where for fifty bucks you would get a phone that would recieve calls anytime/anywhere at no cost but you couldn't call out. It lasted for a little over a year too! God how I miss the days of the cable blackbox, faultys, and no caller id.
