Linux is great I just got it a week ago. Love it! Installed a bunch of free sofrware... and yeah way better for going online without worrying about viruses...

I really like how you can customize stuff. it's way more efficent for work and stuff.

I hated windiows. All thsoe firewalls and anti spyware and virus programs.. keep slowing down the PC with automatic updates and scans.. and then the fucking anti virus doesn't even work... shit still got rhrough..

Linux now anti virus... and it runs fast and smooth. Best system for going online and doing business...

So when my computer starts this is how it looks

Download this here http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/windows-installer

So what you do when download Ubuntu is you choose if you want Ubuntu to get rid of Windows or install it side by side. Choose side by side and choose how much of your hard drive you want to dedicate to Ubuntu. It's the best way to run a PC IMO. You can also use Ubuntu to get rid of virus in windows as well. So if you ever have a crazy virus that won't even let windows boot just keep a Ubuntu live cd handy.

This is the website where I learn how to do some dope ass shit http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/

They are plenty of Youtube videos on Linux and the online community is really helpful as well.

Open Source FTW all around.

do i run the installer before or after i run the ubuntu CD??

I'm a little confused so did you download the exe file I link you with? Or do you have an ISO on a dvd of Ubuntu?

If you have on DVD/CD just restart your computer and make sure your dvd player is at the top of your boot options. Then pick install Ubuntu and everything will be self explanatory from there on.

If you have the .exe file just click on it when your in windows and pick to install it side by side and make sure you choose how much hard drive space you want to dedicate to Ubuntu.

One question on this OS, How do I SUCCESSFULLY setup Internet Connection Sharing/Bridging my wireless connection so I can use my wired eithernet to connect to my 360? I have tried tons of "How-To" guides on the Ubuntu forums but nothing I tired seems to work. Any help? Even Tried the "Shared To Other Computers" and "Firestarter" options, both were unsuccessful

Tried these links and none of these methods work for me.

(Get as far as # apt-get install dnsmasq ipmasq and get an error saying dnsmasq has no installer package an is missing)

(Tried this and when i try to start firestart i get an error saying eth0 wired is not ready)

I'm using Windows 7 at the moment. I'm experimenting with Gentoo in Virtual Box. I'm trying to figure out how to build it from the ground up first. I'm taking notes before I apply it as my main OS.

I am traveling at the moment and I was thinking for a while now to buy a small laptop with ubuntu.
I just don't like to use windows at all, also for purchase it's cheaper because I won't pay for the os.
