Just a question to the members of the GOM to see if people have an interest in the subject, and if so does it affect or have any impact on your life...

My favorite thing about the religion is that the biggest fundamental philosophy is the concept behind the idea of paying tribute to Creation and having Respect for all life 'life is life' ...
I know its kinda random, but the board is a bit dry so feel free to share insight and opinions...

They believe that Haile Selassie - Christian King of Ethiopia is the return of the Messiah and worship him as god.

Biggest contradiction i always wanted to ask a Rasta:

Refer to the U.S. as Babylon and dog it for its decadence/corruption/imperialism/etc yet, Selassie was another U.S. supported dictator and he supported their exploits in Africa and U.S. imperialism in his own country. No contradiction to be found there? :dead:

Jah Rastafari . . .

The mere fact it is said, out of custom, makes the claim that Selassie is God.

The word *JAH is the present tense of Jehovah (that was, that is, that which is to come), which of course is GOD.

The word Ras Tafari is Selassie himself. His father, Ras Micheal, gave his son Tafari (who is Selassie) this name because he felt that he would be someone great. So the word Ras Tafari, name by and after his dad, is Selassie himself.

Now puting the two words in a praise would say, "God (Jah) Selassie (rastafari)" or Selassie is God.

Emporer Selassie I is actually a black messiah. I have a myth magic and religion class and in the reading of three rastas living in urban jamaica there is many things to undertake such as poverty and herb. Poverty is by choice for them. Nigel (a man in my report) gave up his clothing boutique for Rastafarianism. THe herb (dojia) is for a place called higher reasoning. David and Lion who inhaled the smoke for higher reasoning in which the rastas sat around and analyzed the aspects of life such as race in which david spoke and said that rastafarianism isnt a race rather a state of mind.
