About Damion "D-Roc" Butler:
Damion Butler is a Brooklyn born and bred talent manager. Known to most as "D-Roc" or "D-Rocafella"and as the best friend and right hand to Christopher Wallace a/k/a "Biggie Smalls" or "Notorious BIG", Damion grew up in the streets of "Nostrand Ave." along side his best friend from "Bedstuy." Damion has been the instrumental "behind the scenes" force responsible in shaping the careers of Notorious BIG, Lil Kim, Lil Cease and Junior MAFIA.
In the early days circa 1996, Biggie has just signed a record deal with "bad Boy Entertainment" when the two had a run in with law. Biggie was caught a "gun charge" for a .45 pistol he hid in the trash. D-Roc took the gun charge for Biggie and spent three years in jail freeing Biggie to record his debut album and one of hip hop's classics, Ready to Die. When D-Roc came home from the bid, they went straight into the studio to work on Biggie's second and last album titled, Life After Death.
After BIG's untimely death two weeks before Life After Death was released, Damion formed Roc Management providing talent management for BIG's protégés Lil Kim, Lil Cease and Junior MAFIA. He also formed Roc Security which provided security for music artists and athletes. Damion was able to successfully help produce "Notorious K.I.M." and "The Wonderful World of Cease A Leo" and was working towards follow-up albums until an unfortunate incident on February 25, 2001 at NYC radio's HOT 97 that lead to a "broad daylight" shootout in the street s of Greenwich Villlage."
Damion was able to successfully help produce "Notorious K.I.M." and "The Wonderful World of Cease A Leo" and was working towards follow-up albums until an unfortunate incident on February 25, 2001 at NYC radio's HOT 97 that lead to a "broad daylight" shootout in the street s of Greenwich Villlage." A Federal trial followed over the incident and would be the demise of the team as it separated Lil Kim who denied seeing Damion the day of the shootout and Lil Cease who testified Damion and other members of the team were present the day of the incident. Lil Kim was sentenced to a year and a day as a result, and Damion was sentenced to three years of which he is still serving prison time. "The truth is what it is, sometimes bad things have to happen in order for you to really see who your friends are," confesses D-Roc.
