consistency is the key, regardless of whether you're trying to build muscle of lose weight....all that other shit is a waste of time like 'eat this in morning, then do this exercise bla bla'

Obviously use some common sense, don't eat JUNK everyday and exercise once per week. But consistency is what will give you results, if you exercise one week and then don't go back for a week or two forget it, don't waste your time. I had to learn this first hand.

Cut out SODA! is #1 most overweight people drink that liquid crack, and yes as the aussy said consistency. eat sensibly, but dont gorge (sp?) at meals. and do this thing called excersize, whoever told u... your gonna lose 57457 lbs by cutting carbs has never lost weight, the most important way too losing weight is excersize, once u start excerisizing ur metab will speed up and u wont wanna eat ( takin that u eat alot) just drink water, eat sensibly. and u will lose weight, i lost maybe 130 lbs last year on doing what i just wrote.

good luck

Just do squats, bench, cleans, curls, military, incline, neck, leg extensions, leg curls, deadlift, pull ups, skull crushers, calf extensions. I try to split them up between uppper and lower body.

Then I'll do sets of 8 the first week, sets of 10 next, then 12, then go back down to 10 (increasing weight), and 8 increasing weight. Then I just stay at 8 and increase it by 5 pounds every week or two.

As far as eating I'd stay away from pop (or soda or whatever you call it), any diuretics (iced tea) and eat lots of protein, peanut butter, meats, sandwiches whenver you can, ice cream, whey, etc.

This will help you bulk up football style. I dont know shit about losing weight or anything like that, but that'll make you a beefcake as long as you keep with it for a while. (I fucked up my shoulder and stopped lifting a few years ago so I dropped about 20 pounds, but when I was on that program I was thick.)

Oh yeah - I always add some cardio at the end. Do crunches/sit ups and push ups and then either do some distance running or some sprints. Punching bag. Jump rope too.

If you are tryin to get into shape, the first thing you should do is set some goals. How much weight would you like to lose? How much muscle would you like to gain? How fast do you want to run the 40 in? Be realistic. You should also decide how much time you can dedicate to exercise.

Secondly, you need to come up with a routine. Like FILAlAUS said, consistency is the key. I usually rotate between two routines:
One muscle each day (chest, legs, back, arms, shoulders) OR
Two muscles each day (Chest/tris, Back/bis, legs, Shoulders/chest, Bis/Tris etc)

You should also work your abs at least every other day, and cardio almost every day. When you do your cardio, dont do that shit half assed. Run, jump rope, use a stair master, do shit that will really make you sweat. You can also hit a heavy bag and get a real good workout, I do it AFTER lifting because it makes you so tired.

Eat according to your goals. If you work out a lot and you dont want to lose a lot of weight you can eat like shit. But if your asking for advice on the siccness (no offense) Im sure you are pretty out of shape. DONT use hydroxycut, a protein diet, or any other scam you hear about. EAT HEALTHY. Eat your fruits and vegtables. Eat lots of meat, steak, chicken, turkey, tuna is great, etc etc. Protein shakes are great too. It is also important when you have your protein. Have some around 1hr before and about 30 min after you work out. DONT drink things loaded with calories: soda, juice drinks (from concentrate almost all sugar), chocolate milk etc.

Keep in mind, this will take time. It does not happen overnight. If you have discipline, and faith in yourself, you will fight the good fight and meet your goal. If not, you will spend shitloads of money on good foods and now exercise toys and fail.

Also, if you have never lifted weights before contact a trainer and learn the machines and right form. It will be worth the one lesson.

you need goals.

each person's body and life style is different and each person has a different ideal for how they want their body to perform and look like.

without knowing anything about you it would be stupid to sugest much of anything.
