I know I'm getting a new workstation for my birthday (k2661 or 2600) but I'm looking into getting an mpc 4000 also. I dont *need* the 4000 as a sequencer but I would like to use one as a module. Basically snatch one and max around 40 of the 60 gig with hella sounds. I've played with one (had to get it synced at another lab) but I haven't made a beat on one myself.

I know you can play keygrouped programs (strings, bass) on this unit but I don't wanna play from it. So with that being said how do *you* use your mpc 4000 and most importantly if you use it as a sound module do you have to load all of the sounds? Basically can I use it as I would a triton rack or motif es? Turn the knob, new sound, turn the knob gay sound, turn the knob gay sound, turn the knob tight sound.....blah blah blah....

If I have to reload sounds after I turn the knob to get a new sound (if thats even how the unit works) it's something I wont snatch.

:HGK:

ps Norkoastal if your reading this have glen hit me up ASAP about his mpc 4000.

Theres a couple people in his producers forum called "Beat Bangas" who know a lot about the 4000 and the Roland MV 8000 as well. From what I hear the MV can hold it's own against the MPC. You should head over to www.bigsaccs.com ...sign up , join the forum. I know Bumpus is over there...in fact I think he and Big Saccs go sumthin in the works. You get a lot of feedback over there and help...if someone is able to....quickly...especially on topics about the MPC 4000 or that MV 8000.

@DOBERMAN AND FOUL MOUTH GOOD LOOKIN OUT. I TALKED TO A GUY WHO HAS AN MPC 4000 FOR SALE AND HE SAID THE PREVIEW FUNCTION WAS JUST RELEASED IN THE LATEST OS UPDATE. HE STEERED ME AWAY FROM BUYING HIS UNIT AND SAID IT WAS A WASTE OF MONEY FOR WHAT I WAS DOING. SO NOW I'LL BYPASS THE MPC TYPE HARDWARE, KEEP THE KEYBOARD WORKSTATIONS AND USE SOFT SYNTHS.

ONCE AGAIN THANKS.
