I lift weights, beat up the heavy bag, and work the mitts. I also spar at least once a week. Plus I've been bouncing for about 12 years, so I have no problem putting hands on people. Actually I love fighting and sparring.

I've trained BJJ but that was a short stint a couple years ago, would love to get back into it once the funds are in a better position.

The warm ups for the BJJ was something sick, like 45mins to an hour and then we would train JJ for another hour, my out of shape ass was hurting.

I used to train for boxing. I was actually going to start fighting professionally and found out that the discs in my neck are messed up. I started training other people but I just don't have time with 2 kids under 2.5 years old right now. Eventually I'll start my own gym or a boxing ministry or something again when my kids get a little older

I train other soldiers in Army combatives (i'm a level 3 instructor). I've trained in muay thai and bjj for 3 years but haven't done it in 6 months or so, been too busy moving around.

Started off boxing at 3rd St. Boxing Gym in SF.

Moved on to Muay Thai, then started submission wrestling/grappling/no gi-BJJ

I spend more time doing standup than anything else. Boxing/muay thai...I've done smokers, but no intentions of becoming a fighter or anything. Would like to do some grappling tourneys though, when I improve.

Had the benefit of having some great trainers/instructors:

Paris Alexander, boxing coach...cool ass guy and I always tease him about the fact that his claim to fame was getting TKO'd by Oscar De La Hoya in 1993. LOL

Bunkerd Faphimai, muay thai...Lumpinee Stadium champion. Coolest guy you will ever meet. Used to be the head trainer for Fairtex, until he opened his own gym in SF.

Neungsiam Samphursi, another Lumpinee Stadium champ. Hardest workouts ever.

Chris Cariaso, pro boxer/WEC fighter/muay thai...

Jake Shields

Darren "Bone Crusher" Uyenoyama...probably the best teacher, as far as depth and explination. Great wrestling foundation, and he's a Ralph Gracie black belt.

LOL, you should have seen me after the first class, I could barely move, REAL BJJ warm ups are no joke, I heard Muay thai has some killer workouts as well.

One of the excercises we would do would be to put have someone hang off your back and then jump up and down. At the time I weighed about 225-230 so I was paired up with a guy that was around 240 or so, holy shit, having a guy that size on your back is enough, then jumping up and down and this was the last thing after an hour warm up that day.
