no.. but before u take it out..flip the rocker switch on the back of ur computer which is on the powersupply to OFF. And when youre taking it out.. touch the computer chassis once in a while so u keep yourself grounded and dont short anything on the motherboard. You should be good with 350w powersupply if you need a new one.
It should be no problem just be really careful to touch something to ground out so that you don't shock anything with a static charge. What size power supply are you replacing and what are you replacing it with?
Im not sure yet... my current power supply is a mere 250w... I want to upgrade my video card, but most decent cards these days want a minumum of 350w... so thats why I want to swap it out.
the good cards need over 500 watts.. but i'd just get somethin' that's good enough to power my shit.. you might also want to be thinkin' about the future.. whether you go sli or what not.. then i'd get the quietest one for the amount of watts i need.. don't go cheap.
I've torn apart computers without knowing shit, thats how to learn. I've never grounded myself and touched damn near everything. Only thing I ever messed up was installing a cpu, tried to put it in the wrong way and broke a pin .
I have a 550W power supply but I built my computer myself so I wanted the best stuff at the best price. It shouldn't cost too much to have a decent power supply. This is what I have and it gets the job done and looks nice. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817182010
