3MK as a group was created in 1995 by members Nasty-D, The SoS, and Rated X. Immediately upon creation the group and it’s newly founded label Lock’Em Down Records began to lay a foundation that still stands true today. The group early on had its ups and downs when Nasty-D was released from his duties due to personal issues. This at the time was a huge blow to the new group and threatened to sideline any chance of it continuing. By Chance Tha SoS happened to run into a tongue twisting newcomer who called himself Teflon and after meeting with Co label owner X-Rated signed Teflon as the third member of 3MK in Nasty-D’s absence. This move proved to be a good one as the chemistry within the group early on caught the ear of listeners when in 1996, less than a year after creation the group released its 1st album now the underground classis titled “Kill Em Dead”. This album made it’s way to the streets to the internet via Napster and that introduced the group to a larger audience. After that success the group took time to perfect their craft taking off more than 3 years in between projects, yet kept themselves current by doing more than 30 radio commercials for Mr. Z’s Sound Express and Store One.
Then in 1999 the group was joined once again by Nasty-D as the 4th member of the group. Tragic circumstances struck again when Teflon was jailed on robbery charges and was unable to complete the recording of the 1999 released album titled Lock Em Down Records Compilation. Nasty-D stepped in with new motivation to reclaim his spot that was previously taken by Teflon. Throughout this time 3MK was featured on nationwide compilation titled Down South Ballin Volume 1 and 2 with the likes of Eight ball & MJG, 3 6 Mafia, Kingpin Skinny Pimp, Playa Fly, Ska Al Kapone and also on their former label mates album titled Surreptus Populus. 3MK as a group has completed many shows throughout the mid south in areas such as Memphis TN, Jackson TN, Millington TN, Dyersburg TN, Albany GA, Jackson MS, Corinth MS, Jonesboro AR, Little Rock AR, Pine Bluff AR, to name a few. They have opened for Ska Al Kapone, Ghetto Twinz, Khia, & Mr Bigg. The group today is seasoned in its craft and awaiting it’s opportunity to take the next step toward greatness.
