I'm trying to figure out which would be best for me. A Bachelor's of Science in Management or a Bachelor's of Science in Business/Management. From what I've read and heard from the school, the BSBM would probably give me a wider range of career options because of all the content I would be learning.

Anybody have any experience with either degree? If so, speak on it.

A lot of my folks have BA's in business, and most of them tell me the degree is useless.

They're all doing other shit hella non-related to that, and not even making that much doing so.

Get the BSBM pops has one and he done it

I'm getting my BA in Political Science, then off to law school

Biz is mostly about connections tho... Honestly it doesn't matter which one you pick, but your impressions in your post seem to be true

Yea, it all depends on what you do. I'm talkin' about going to a big ass company and doin' my thing when I'm done. Of course I'm gonna use a lot of what I learn for this music as well, but I need a sure thing in case that shit ends up going down the drain.

I know most people get degrees and they haven't even figured out what they want to do. Like my girl got a BS in Business Management, and is getting her Master's in Counseling Psychology. I know exactly what I want to do so I'm not trippin'.

I got a B.A but it dont really mean shit nowadays........its like having a high school diploma......besides more than half the people do shit that is not related to what they studied. If you really want to get ahead get your masters or pick up a trade or get a BS in engineering, computer science etc.....

ya i just got a BS in journalism, or should I say i spent 10 years and thousands of dollars of my own money only to find out that i hate journalism.

it really doesnt matter which one you choose, any degree will get you through doors that will eventually allow you to make more money, but only life and experience can teach you what you need to know to be truly successful at something.

get the degree if you plan to work for someone else. skip the degree if you plan to work for yourself.

just my two cents

i'm sure you will find some very insightful info by asking people here on the siccness lol
Eh, I know people on here have done the school thing already so I figured I'd ask about it. lol. I tried going to academic counselors and they always tell me shit that's going to keep me in school longer, to get more money I imagine. So I figured I'd see if there was some outside info.

Yea, a Master's Degree is definitely the plan...but one step at a time. I want to land a job that will pay for the Master's Program. My boy works for a startup, and they're not reimbursing him small amounts, they're paying for his entire Master's Program.

Does your college offer a Management Information Systems major in the business department? That's what I'm going for. You're way more likely to get a job with a degree in that field and it's a booming career right now. Google that shit and look into it.

Really, your BA/BS doesnt mean shit. 85-90% of college graduates have jobs that have nothing to do with their degree. Its your ability to network, mouthpiece and work hard once your in to move up that gets you where you want to be. Trust me, I went to SDSU and I shit all over kids from UC Berkeley day in and day out.

I got a ba in political science and im in law school. I also work with the legislature so im working in the field of my degree as well. The key to getting a job in the field of ur degree is internships while in school. Do as many as u can and ur already a step ahead of others with your degree looking at an entry level job. Masters degrees are also better when ur already in your field because u can get a raise or promotion easier rather than having them hire externally.

And to agree with madd dogg, networking plays a big part in career development, people have to know who u r and they have to like u. Develop good relationships with other businesses and organizations and work together with them, so if u ever work for them, they will b like "oh yeah i heard about that guy, hes a good guy". U may have to act like a straight douche in front of them, but it pays off. I act like an entire different person at work, but u gotta b proffesional. They dont know im a panda fucking panty sniffer. Also take public speaking classes bcuz sooner or later u will need it and it helps u talk to people without feeling intimidated.

Get whatever's easier/faser - if you find a job in this market, it's probably not going to be in what you studied b/c you might have to take whatever comes along in this fucked up economy
