If you are you an emcee
A breakdancer/capoerista
A graff writer/artist
A musician
A dj
A poet
A social activist
A teacher
A filmmaker
and you want to participate in a Hiphop Appreciation Week, you are invited.
basically, i am organizing a free hiphop festival in the Davis/Sacramento Area the third week in May (Frday, May 26, andSaturday, May 27 will be the main days for performances), and I am looking for people who represent hiphop and wouldn't mind doing this for charity. It will be a free event to enter, but there will be optional donations to raise money for food and medical supplies for people in Haiti and Guatemala. Basically I'm trying to promote positive action, which is the theme this year.
ACTIVITIES:
rap concerts
freestyle sessions
spoken word
breakdancing
graffiti exhibitions and live demonstrations
turntablists and live bands
reggae dancehall
documentary screenings
discussions related to hiphop, social activism, history and philosophy (we can do all the intellectual shit before the party starts, anyway...)
Anyway, this is all just what I would like to see, but it really depends who would be willing to participate. It'll be for fun, and to promote knowledge and culture.
You can email me at [email protected] for details on performing...
or if you have any comments, suggestions, insight and widsom, let me know.
Peace...
