I just swooped 1 up today folks, got a pioneer DVD-R/RW drive, best for the money right now, you can copy single sided dvds but not directly, you gotta rip it to your hard drive first and do other stuff. 4.7GB is the max for the dvd drives out right now.

The DVD format is @ war right now like Beta and VHS were, DVD-R/RW is most compatable with your existing dvd players while the DVD+R format is being supported by the big companies, but blank dvd prices for those are like $10 per blank dvd.

The Pioneer drive I got cost me $250 which is coo because my X-box was modded last week :)

Check if you homie is pushin DVD-R/RW or DVD+R/RW or even DVD-RAM which are low cost right now ($200 or less) cause they suck

Where did you get that shit for $250? Was that with rebates and shit, i'm lookin to buy one but the thing is i be hearing shit about that region encoding, and how some dvd burners dont include the region encoding in their programs so some work and some dont on normal dvd players, holla though...

I was told that a DVD-RAM is only for playing dvds and a DVD-ROM is for burning and playing or something like that.

The DVD RAM format can hold more than 4.7GB but can only be used in that drive, most dvd-rom drives and players cant read that format.
Right now DVD-R/RW is the best to for most everything.
