Not direct family of mine but a few brothers of my grandfather fought in Indonesia during the second world war.
My grandfather didn't have to serve because he already had some brothers enlisted.

Yes, a General in WW2 with the Yugoslav Partisan Army, saved some American pilots lives in the Balkans theatre as well as uniting the country and being established as the main fighting force against the German Nazi's and Croatian Ustace. Ended up doing some fucked up shit after the war and was sent to prison, killed himself. Is a war hero.

Another at Galliopoli, survived.

my dads uncle died in corregador ( the place next to bataan - where they had the death march during ww2) philippines he was a signal corpse for the U.S. army.

my great grandpa died during ww2 serving the U.S. army.

my dad is a retired submariner that served in vietnam and the cold war.

my uncle served on a surface ship in vietnam and cold war.

another uncle served on a surface ship in vietnam and cold war.

almost forgot my uncle who served on an air craft carrier vietnam and cold war.

and another as a construction battalion or (c.b.) vietnam and cold war.

i had a cousin that served in the navy, in desert storm.

another cousin served as navy officer afghanistan quote "for a very long time".

another cousin served as a lance corporal in the marines in iraq and afghanistan.

and one last cousin served in the air force in iraq and afghanistan.

thats about it.

both of my grandpas were in WWIIy ..one was in the pacific for only like 3 months before getting blasted in the ass by a jap gunner plane (he was a b17 tailgunner)....my other grandpa walked threw berlin the day hitler killed himself getting hyphy...

RIP to my grandpa mike tho

my great uncle served in normandy received 2 purple hearts.....
my other great uncle served in vietnam did 2 tours over there.....both in the jungle...recieved 2 purple hearts and 2 silver stars...got shot 6 times saved plenty of people.......he just passed away last year from agent orange....

my great grandpa served in the pacific and got burned with a flameflower but not once did he cry to his family. my great uncle served in vietnam and was kia. right now i have a female cousin in airborne.

I grieve for anyone who lost someone in war, my family was very lucky. My great uncle survived 4 torpedo attacks (ship totally destroyed and sank each time) in world war II
