Hot shave is a waste of money IMO...I got my barber's license in 96 and you will probably pay at least $10 for a shave.......A mach-3 will give you a better shave because most barbers wont shave against the grain and very few barbers have a lot of experience doing them (although there is a renewed interest in the skill now). A razor line-up or for lining a beard is another story, but the actual shave itself isn't any closer then something you could do at home in the shower. I will say that it is a cool experience though, but very shops in Dago have lather-king machines (most just use canned shit) and even fewer have towel warmers (some places microwave their towels but not many)....When I was cutting in LA, there was a a few ballers who would get a hot shave 4 or 5 x a week (it was 12$ a pop up there and they all just threw you a $20)...that was in 2000 so I'm guessing a shave is $16 a pop up there now....We were charging $14 for a shave in Vegas 2 years ago....There are a few hotels downtown that have shops in them where you can get a true old school shave but you will come out of the pocket for them......If you are interested, I can give you some referrals

Check out Lefty's Barber Shop on Garnet in Pacific Beach....It's a Rock-A-Billy themed shop....they love doing straight razor shaves and are probably more known for shaves then haircuts.... You would get the full treatment there from people who do them all the time....a lot of shops in dago do shaves but Lefty's specializes in them....
