Former New Japan pro-wrestler Katsuyori Shibata will take on Ralek gracie
who is a son of Rorion Gracie at Hero's on July 17th.

At the press conference, Shibata said "I only know the name of 'gracie'
so I don't have any special feelings. I can't say anything about my
opponent because I have no informations, but I'll do my best."

"I thought that (Tokimitsu) Ishizawa was the strongest man in New Japan
Pro Wrestling, so I was shocked that he lost against Ryan (Gracie). In that sense,
I think it's very important for me to fight against a gracie at the present."

Pro wrestler Katsuyori Shibata held an open practice session today with his teacher, the great Masakatsu Funaki. Shibata's third MMA fight - the first two having been easy wins - sees him face a member of the Gracie family, which is infamous for crushing the dreams of pro wrestlers. This will be a new Gracie, Ralek, who is a highly rated prospect, but inexperienced. Shibata trained like a man possessed for 30 minutes, not once stopping to take a break. Funaki called him a "wild beast" capable of KO'ing opponents with one punch. He feels Shibata's striking may be his strength and has advised Shibata that even if his fights go to the mat, to try and hit the opponent with punches. If Shibata is able to defeat Ralek Gracie, his stock in the eyes of K-1 matchmakers is likely to go up even more, and he seems determined to make an impact on the fight scene.
