the reason there is more lag is because there is 3x as many people playing call of duty on live than there is for PSN. its to be expected.
i know my problems are isoloated with ps3, most of my friends have had little problems but i my connection to the ps3 is the worst shit ever. i cant get it to stay online for more than 10 mins, let alone play a game on it. i ended up having to connect a long ass ethernet cord for it. hella ghetto. the wirless is horrible. the damn router is one room away and it has like 30% signal. my 360 is DOWNSTAIRS on the other side of the house and gets 90%. i dont get it

You're not the only one shit lags for me too.. And for some reason it disconnects me every now and then.. And the whole time i was playing COD4 on the 360 i experienced minimal lag.. The only game i lag on XBL is Gears Of War 2, and that's because Epic sucks at makeing their online games lag free..
Take it from someone who has PSN and XBL.. XBL is 100x better then PSN when it comes to a better online community, better connection, and more features.. The only thing i think PSN does better then XBL is PSN has a better selection of video games to purchase.

This is exactly true.. All the complaints are "at their friends house" or "on their friends xbox."

Has you're friend told you about all the movies he can download? Has you're friend been enjoying all the exclusives DLC *cough*fallout3*cough* he's been gettin that you people with PSN arnt gettin? Has you're friend been enjoying 1 vs 100 winnin MS points? Has you're guys friend been watching his favorite tv show off his xbox? Has you're friend been complaining about all the free contests and tournaments that XBL holds?
And those are only some features.. I'am pretty sure XBL is gonna get another update soon too, which will beef it up even more

But, if i was a casual player, who would'nt miss any of the features i listed above (along with a lot more) and i NEVER planned to go online or i couldn't go online then i'd cop the ps3.

lol, I can watch TV/browse the internet all of that on psn. Why the hell would I want to download a movie? I can either stream or download movies from my ps3 directly from my PC, etc. if I want to, or scratch my PC I can even have torrents and download movies/games/applications/etc. and install other operating systems like Linux.
I'm not saying xbl isn't better, because the interface is better easier to get your friends in a game etc, all I'm saying is free is better than paying imo because that other stuff (points/etc!) isn't important to me. I don't know why you say the xbox is a better machine than the ps3, that's not even the case the ps3 is a very impressive piece of hardware and can and is used for various different purposes (shit you can even use the ps3 as a server!) and the xbox is poorly made and that shows in the insanely high amount of failures.
The only thing that I would care about is that xbl gets more DLC because micro$oft pays more money to get exclusive DLC, but that just reflects on how disgusting of a company miro$oft truly is.

First off i wouldn't even know how to stream a movie from my p/c to my ps3.. Nor do i wanna buy the stuff to do that or take the time to do it.. Plus i don't fuck wit' torrents thats what took out my first p/c lol.. I'd rather go with the simple button tap here, button tap there, aw shit you're watchin the new Friday The 13th now.. Well you need to understand the language you're using... Hardware = machine, i.e it's the physical hardware of the device. Online isn't apart of that hardware.

Im with you 2-0 about online play, i only play Cod, Madden, Fifa, and Socom online. Those games each set the standard to me and i cant even play any other games online so consider me casual gamer cuz the only games i buy are for the story mode and one player campaign or whatever you want to call it and the lack of exclusives on PS3 really doesnt mean shit, i got 19 games and only had my PS3 for a year in a half. Im sure not worried about lack of games.

Actually there was a interview last year with Eric Lempel, Sony’s Director of Network Operations said "things change" and that they may make people pay for PSN, but not for the core-features.. Sorta like Xboxs Silver and Gold memberships.
I jus wouldn't be so confident in it.. It's obvious Playstation has to do something, and it'd be in there best interest to beef up PSN and make you pay for the new features.. Shit i'd jump right onboard and cop a membership... I'd be a happy man
