Animal Cruelty

I think people who commit acts of cruelty to animals should face penalties equal to perpetrating the same crime upon a human.

A few months ago I adopted my dog Cletus from the pound. She was very skinny and was obviously abandoned with no provisions. She was lucky to find a good home.

On the other hand, there are animals that don't have it so good. Some are shot and mamed, starved to death, cut and burned, etc. I have no idea what would possess a human to do such a thing to a helpless creature, but like I said, they should be severely punished.

No smart remarks please...but I was wondering what you all felt. Do you think you have to be an animal owner to feel this way?

Being mexican, i know my culture abuses alot of animals... I.E. cockfights, bullfighting, dogfights, etc., etc.
I think if you purposely harm animals, then you should pay the consequences

But yeah, I don't like animal cruelty towards demestic animals. Dogs/cats/birds/horses etc. I know this one guy who has this tight ass puppy pitbul. Keeps it locked in his room for days at a time, no food or water. Motherfucker just lets it piss/shit everywhere. He's a disgrace, low life, white trash kind of guy. I almost fucked him up because of it. I don't understand why these people have pets if thier going to treat 'em that way.

Any of you ever watch that animal channel...animal planet, or something like that.

They do prosecute people who mis-treat their pets. I don't know if they do this in every state, but the show seems to be only in Michigan.

The animal police can arrest you on the spot, just like the regular pigs.

as 2-0-sixx said, i dont' understand why people would have a pet if they were going to treat it like that....there really is not a point to having an animal unless you are ready and willing to take care of it. that's your responsibility as an owner...i don't understand why people would do cruel ass shit to an animal that can't really defend itself....i don't know about facing the same penalties as you would for doing cruel shit to a human, but there should definately be some strict punishments.
