peep this article I stumbled across a few minutes ago. It was written by a retired general and printed in ASIA TIMES. Keep in mind that this is one persons perspective, but some of the things he talks about (like a lack of a missile defense system, and china having a large amount of american reserves) is something I've often made reference to here.

Good article for sure. My only questions are....Now this scenerio of our carriers along with the UK being tooken out has been layed out, wouldn't you think there would be a counter to this or one in the making? Or would the people that develop our advanced weapons of war and defenses have something in the works to counter this threat...which how I interpreted would take our navy the fuck out if we just rushed in like it was all good. I mean goin up against a china with russia and iran backing them wouldn't be no iraq and afghanistan...meaning the level of arrogance would be minimal and caution would have to be maximized.
This will be warfare with the big expensive equipement that the top guys aren't to quick to throw away. I guess I'm saying that I don't think we would just try and go heads up without any protection. Atleast I hope not. Plus I think we would do many many many airstrikes to soften up all that resistance before hand.

Fuck the Chivas, America all day...

Sorry, that's what I thought it said at first. But very interesting read. I would like to know your opinion on something if you dont mind me asking: If this rivalry does get "cold war" big, do you think the media will act in the same matter as it did with Russia, or possibly even get worse? (Propaganda-wise)

Well, first of all the US would never be that stupid to attack China, or "instigate" a war by pushing Taiwan to declare its independency.

All this talk about the weapons and so on is very theoretical and would prolly turn out quite different. But one thing that China has, is its people. I have been livin in China now for almost two years, and I know that all the people would defend their country. Does not matter if they like the government or not, but they would fight for their country till they all die. Look at WW2, the Japanese soldiers came to Chinese villages, where the people didn't even have no knives, but they would fight them with slingshots, or whatever they could get their hands on...

Anyway, people have to let go of those thoughts that China is an enemy and so on. America makes good money off of China, same as China off the US.

By that way, I thought China has already switched its largest main trading partner now, which would be from US to EU..........

For real! China's foreign policy is just as crooked as the US! Imagine if they had the oppurtunity to run wild through Asia...

When I first started reading this article I thought the author was trying to justify a pre-emptive war against China to prevent them from gathering too much power and becoming a 'rival' to the United States. The quote from Wolfowitz (Our first objective is to prevent the re-emergence of a new rival) which itself makes no sense (if this rival is re-emerging, then it's not new is it!), coupled to the statistics relating to Chinas economic growth suggests that they must be stopped.

However, the last few paragraphs had me feeling a lot better. Instead of the myriad of doomsday scenarios outlined in the first three quarters of the article, he shows how a simple change in Americas world-view could not only increase their respect but also their power.

Victor N. Corpus said:
As the sole superpower, the US stands at a critical crossroad. One road leads to world domination. Using its pre-eminent military war machine without equal, it can strike at any perceived threat, change foreign sovereign regimes at will, grab precious mineral resources anywhere in the world and control local economies with its host of transnational corporations. It can also sabotage the economy of up-coming rivals, or launch preventive wars to preempt prospective competitors and try to defeat them militarily while they are still weak compared to America.
No, America would never do that!

I just wish that America would stop trying to run the world, they're becoming a new-age world dictator and if they don't change their views and actions, the people will eventually fight back. In fact, I believe that if they continue down this course of action, the next world war will be fought between America on the one side and the rest of the world on the other. GO WORLD!!!
