Quality and originality of music is to blame too. Hip hop aint dead but rap is on life support...real talk. Cats better start lookin gor other revenue streams cuz eatin off music is a thing of the past.

the "quality" is there, but, everything is old now.
In the 80s when it first started, rap was new and exciting
in the early 90s when the west coast gangsta style came out, rap was new and exciting
in the late 90s with the no limit/cash money type stuff/flashy covers, it was new and exciting.
2006 with hyphy
etc etc

Theres no new style going on...myspace killed that shit. EVery region sounds almost the same. Back in the 90s, each area had its own distinct sound...which led outsiders to get curious, and then they ended up buying it. THose days are gone
