v-boy comin outta redwood city. now this album is straight dope. i believe it is v-boy's first album and certainly one of the better debut albums out of the bay. i give a lot of props to him for this one cuz he produced like 8 songs and pretty much all of them are tight as fuck. i will mention which songs he produced in my review...here goes....
Track 1 - They Gon Hate You - i always like a good intro, this one is produced by Taz Twisted and this beat is dope. i reeally like this intro. v-boy comes wit a really tight verse and certainly a great way to kick off the album. chorus goes "there is no life i know, that compares to when u paper chasin, if u roll, pockets swoll, they gon hate you". he kicks it off with a tight line that goes "here we go once more comin back on a track put it down like that cuz u know im at this" the beat sounds kind of like a tune from the Zelda video game, but it sounds great. i usually dont rate intros, but i will rate this one cuz its a bit longer at 2 minutes and 23 seconds, and 2:23 of heat might i add. 4/5
Track 2 - We Wrong featuring Young Dru - this beat produced by jstaxx, and not bad. its kinda got really heavy short bass lines. a really hard vibe from this song. v-boy raps first and he comes pretty good, but i think this song would have been better with a diffferent beat. his first line goes "my venomous mind is like a soul soaked in cyanide" which are some pretty good lyrics. young dru comes second and he sounds pretty good, as always his verse is heated. this song is pretty good, but kind of plain, and the beat is pretty repetitive. i will give it a 3/5
Track 3 - Set Life featuring Unafeyed Soldierz - this beat is pretty cool, produced by Creed. got heavy violins in the background with a really heavy bass line. this shit is trunk muzicc fosho. im a sucker for violins in rap music cuz i think they sound so good. but anyway v-boy teams up with this group called the Unafeyed Soldierz, they sound pretty good on the mic, look out for an album by them soon. anyway this song is pretty good. i love the bass line so i will give this song a 3.50/5.
Track 4 - Cali Green featuring Taz, Statis & Creed - now i am feelin this beat. it sound great. produced by Taz Twisted and damn he got some good production on this album. this song is a little bit more funky. taz raps first and hes got some skills on the mic too. anyway this song is obviously about smoking weed and blowin big o's. good ol' weed smokin song. im feeling it though, v-boy comes tight and so do his guest features. i will give this song a 4/5
Track 5 - Ice'd Out featuring Andre Nickatina - i really like this song. its pretty heated too, especially with nickatina on it. this is the first song on the CD, out of 8, produced by V-Boy and all i can say is damn u got skills. im feeling the beat to the fullest. nickatina comes good on the first verse, but his flow is a little off on the second verse. personally i think he fell off, but he does very well for himself on this song. v-boy comes good too, i think he sounds and flows better than king nicky on this song. heres an example of his lyrics...." u wanna get in my mix mayne, i really doubt that, cuz im hard to swallow like a mouthful of crack" thats just the start of his verse, but i can assure u he rips it up. anyway this song is great, would be higher if nickatina's flow was a little better on his second verse...4/5
Track 6 - Death B4 Dishonour - second song produced by v-boy, hella hard bass line on this song; its pretty tight. full beat kicks in after about 55 seconds. "game recognize game and game got my brain gone rotten, so im snappin like a switchblade, which way can i turn, u go left is death, u go rightr u burned, theres a lesson to be learned when u yearn to earn..."good lyrics, good flow. the whole song is v-boy. good solo song. ima give it a 3.5/5
Track 7 - We Just featuring T-1, Do-Moe & KD - another one produced by v-boy, and all i can say is damn. hard bass with loud ass drum noises, snare drums i think? not quite sure. but anyway the first dude rips the track up, T-1 from Game Insane, make sure u check out their last albumby the way, Trunk Tight EP, cuz that shits heated. but this song is really good. im likin it. second rapper comes great, as a matter of fact everyone sounds great on this song. not much else to say, gonna give it a 4/5
Track 8 - Souljah Shit featuring Young Dru & M.E.X. - this song produced by Studio Pete, and definitely a good beat. quite interesting actually, its a really loud beat with all sorts of sounds in the background. i like when the instrument kicks in, sounds like a trumpet or something, sounds sweet with the beat and the bass line (which is really phat, trunk knockin muzicc). anyway Young Dru comes hella hard on this one, same with M.E.X. v-boy raps last and switches up his style a little bit. the thing about this song is that v-boy showcases his ability to rap to any type of beat. there are a lot of rappers that rap mostly fast (twista, komain) and some that rap mostly slower like too short. v-boy speeds up his flow a bit on this song, and its a good one. gonna give it a 3.5/5
Track 9 - City Knights featuring Overdose - man im loving this song. wicked production v-boy keep it up cuz im loving this shit!!!! im a sucker for slower songs cuz there are so many classics like that such as do g's get to go to heaven by richie rich and thing'll never change by e-40, and etc... its actually kind of weird cuz the tone of the song is slower paced, the beat is slowed down a bit, the chorus is slowed down, but the rapping is pretty fast. anyway a young woman named Christine D does the hook for this one, and she has a very nice voice. overdose comes hella hard on this song and v-boy too. man v-boy i really like this song, cant get enough. the only thing that ima deduct points for is cuz the hook gets annoying after too many listens to this song. but ima look to some more slower paced joints like that on your next album. gonna give it a 4/5
Track 10 - Danger Zone featuring Blac - another one produced by v-boy and another tight beat. Blac comes hard, but i think v-boy outshines him on this song fosho. i like his lyrics too, heres an example... "..thats why im hot like a pastrami sandwich, im causing damage like cabbage and cornbread be doin to your breath, cuz what im cookin, has got a sweet smell like a whore's neck, im standin firm like a man on a vortex, i keep it simple like the classic Nike Cortez(?), and if u dare try to penetrate my fortress, these hot ones i spit'll give u a sore chest" as u can see his lyrics are very original thats another bonus to listening to v-boys songs. more lyrics...."im in the danger zone gettin blown, takin it home like Track Daddy, ridin shotty in my caddy, lodi dodi, my nature is naughty cuz im a habitual criminal like John Gotti, groggy like a PCP injected elephant, off drama, mean vicadin and relevant(?)" anyway therr u go, a lil sample. ima give this song a 4/5
Track 11 - Moving Weight - produced by Vic Bhalla, a v-boy solo, and its pretty tight. he shows here that he can carry a solo song by himself quite well. wicked lyrics on this one, and great flow. not much else to say, u gotta hear it. gonna give it a 3.5/5
Track 12 - Hard featuring Jonny-T, J.J. Smokes & Bosha - this song is produced by T-1 of Game Insane, and damn, he got some good production as well. hella hard bass line, trunk knockin muzicc here. the guest appearances on this song come exactly like the song title says, HARD! same wit v-boy, this song is tight. i like it quite a bit, good one to cruise to. an easy 4/5
Track 13 - SycoActive featuring Unafeyed Souljahz - this song is produced by v-boy, and not a bad beat. kind of plain though, but it works for the style of the song. the unafeyed souljahz come hella hard on this one, as does v-boy. heres his opening lyrics...... "i put in major work like megahertz, by sellin drugs and doin drugs, and dont they never make my problems go away they make them worse, im sick in the head.....first and foremost i spend my spare time watchin porno's, eatin Digiorno's with my door closed" well as u can see those are hella original. interesting song anyway, and another notable about this song is the hook, it goes "sycoactive, cuz we attracted, to big money, and jewelry that flashes, and when we mash, we mash for cash, and when we cash out, every trip we flip we stash" which is repeated twice. anyway, a good song. i will give it a 3.5/5
Track 14 - On My Toes featuring Lil Kuddie & Kuwan- on this track, Davey D laces v-boy with a pretty tight beat to flow to. its got a soft instrumental in the background with a heavy bassline and some other sounds. interesting beat, but it works. v-boy and his guests sound good on this song. not much else to say, gonna give it a 3/5
Track 15 - Rippin N**as featuring Chunk & Money Marc - this one produced by v-boy and hes got some great guests on this song. i was really looking forward to seeing chunk on this album, but when it came to this song i was kind of disappointed. the beat is hard, really heavy and fast bass, but its just too plain. i dunno, just not really feeling the song. v-boy, chunk, and money marc sound good, but their flows just dont work very well with the beat. shoulda chose a different beat for this one v-boy. still an alright song, but i will give it a 2.5/5
