I don't know what you study, but the catholic church condemns the use of birth control wherever it's practiced. People, on their own, need to draw a line between life and religion...if they don't, it's not the popes fault or anybody else's. The whole issue is, with Catholicism, you shouldn't be having premarital sex...why would you use birth control with somebody you marry and are going to have kids with?

I don't see why you're blaming the catholic church anyhow. The WORLD has been trying to get safe sex education going over there for YEARS, and the African government has been denying that HIV causes AIDS, and that unsafe sex is not the problem, etc. etc. The catholic church really has nothing to do with what the African government has been saying to the rest of the world for years.

It's not a simple matter of the Church saying not to have sex before marrage, it's the Church saying that Condoms do NOT WORK and they have even gone as far to say that some condoms are laced with AIDS.

What do I read?

Well, how about the Guardian? Vatican: condoms don't stop Aids "The Catholic Church is telling people in countries stricken by Aids not to use condoms because they have tiny holes in them through which HIV can pass - potentially exposing thousands of people to risk."

You want other sources, cuz I can provide you with dozens of others if you please.

There's no falso info there...latex condoms do have microscopic holes in them, big enough for the HIV virus to pass right through, there's absolutely NO QUESTION about that. The MOST EFFECTIVE condom on the market is rarely bought, polyurethane (sp?), which doesn't contain holes or pores, but like I said, those are rarely bought.

You're post right there says it all, because what was stated about condoms, the standard latex condom, is TRUE. HIV CAN slip through those, so where's the deception? Check this out, a guy having sex with an infected woman, has about the same probability of getting HIV from her with or without a condom. If you have sex with an infected lady unprotected, you're chances of getting HIV from her is something like 1/1000, because that's how often a man makes a woman cum or bleed while having sex...scientific fact btw. Your chances with a condom are probably about the same since sperm cells, HIV virus, etc can get through a latex condom.

I wonder if Africa will be able to survive the epidemic. Where are the demonstrations and protests and in your face liberals when you need them. Probably decrying the killing of dolphins, LOL

OMFG, Sydal, you are now OFFICIALLY THE BIGGEST FUCKING FOOL ON THE SICCNESS.NET.

Game over.
Look it up dipshit. Stop reading what you want to read, and get some facts straight. For one, I know the deal on condoms and other forms of birth control due to the fact I used to work in Obstetrics and Gynecology @ Kaiser. I've seen what happens to people, birth control use and no birth control. You're also an atheist, therefore you're speaking on a religion you don't practice, so I don't think you're comprehending EXACTLY what the Vatican and the Roman Catholic church is trying to say about condom use. ONE person said that they are laced with AIDS, an idiot will remain so...but that was and is not the stance of the entire religion or the people involved with.

Many questions:
(1)What percentage of the African continent is Catholic? I can't imagine the number is too high, although I could be wrong.
(2)Also do the Catholic missionaries/priests have enough of an influence to order that others don't use the condoms? Catholics in modernized countries don't even practice absticance any more, why should the Africans?
(3) Wouldn't abstaining from sex be alot safer than risking AIDS/HIV especially in an area that has so many people already living with the virus?
(4) How did African countries get such a high Aids count?
(5)
it's the Church saying that Condoms do NOT WORK and they have even gone as far to say that some condoms are laced with AIDS.
It doesn't seem like it's an official stance, at least from the link you provided, so I don't agree with you using the term "the Church". Do you actually have the church/pope saying something like this?
