I use an M-Audio Omnistudio USB. My problem is that when I record in multitrack the playback of the existing tracks is sped up during the record process. For example, if I have some background music on track 1 and Im trying to record vocals on track 2, when I hit record the background music will play at a sped up pace from the normal pace making it impossible for me to try to speak at the correct times. When I just play instead of record it will be fine and play at the normal speed. I have no idea what might be causing this and have tried changing some of the settings. Any Ideas what it might be? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I tried playing the instrumental in Winamp before hitting record and getting rid of its track in Audition so that only the track I was recording through the mic was there. This caused the track in winamp to speed up EVEN after it had started playing at the normal rate before i hit record. I tried recording in Acid 5 and it worked fine but I prefer Audition for its ease of use in multitrack.

You need to go to your control panel to your usb sound device setting and set the Sample Depth to 16 Bit. It's probably at 24 Bit. That'll take care of your problem right away, it's not the software. Just select 16 Bit then Ok.
