acapellas put on beats

sup with it folks,

had a question on whats the easiest way to match an acapella with a beat you made. i tried listening to the lyrics and matching the speed of it but i still can't tell what the tempo is. any solutions?

Practice man, it's the best way to learn. If the beat is getting ahead of the lyrics, slow it down... If it's dragging behind, speed it up.

If you've got it synced up as best you can and it still isn't perfect, you might have to cut the vocals and position them as two or more pieces rather than one big one.

tempo counters

If it's a popular song, you could find the BPM on the net, people post that shit all the time for dj's. Then you could just time stretch or compress the vox to match the beat, or speed up or slow the track down. If aint on the net, MPC's and other sequencers have tap tempo counters and you could find the tempo by playing with that too.
