The name is Karma Kitchen, an dit goeslike this, you show up, you eat your meal, and the volunteer waiter/waitress hands you a gold envelope with a handwritten note ont he outside that says "Have a lovely evening." and inside a card says "In the spirit of generosity, someone who came before you made a gift of this meal. We hope you will continue the circle of giving in your own way!"

It's only open one night a week i think, the group of volunteers pays a small amount to a chef that owns his own successful paying-restuarants, and wanted to help donate his place to them because he believes in the art of giving also coming from poverty himself.

Its been open for 6 months now, and have been making more profit than they needed for the small fee they pay to the restuarant owner, that they donate to charityfocus.org that also helps fund these gift-economy type of restuarants and foundations..

SOOOO what do you guys think?
You think this could be successful as a 7 day a week type of operation...
Do you think it could work anywhere else other than on Telegraph Ave in Berkeley, CA?
What would you do if you walked by this restuarant?
