kanye raised tha bar on production. hate if yall want, but jus that chipmunk shit alone, had HELLA producers bitin that style. and kanye, bein tha producin GENIUS he is, didn't even run wit it, he let everyone STEAL it, and left it alone, and moved on. like someone already mentioned, maybe its cuz i'm 30 years young, but i grew up on MUSIC. this generation is growin up on BEATS. i don't hate on both, but to me, it takes alot more talent to make MUSIC than beats. even if kanye samples ALOT, he does a damn good job. if yall dissin him, post up some shit better than his that YOU made, better yet, and according to yall, to make it easy for yall, sample some traccs and make it better than his. i didn't think so. is lyrics are simple, but like i said before, they're WELL THOUGHT OUT. fold.

So true..

Before The Blueprint came out, and synthesized beats were the predominant form of Hip Hop/Rap...sampling was a lost art form in mainstream hip hop...it wasn't until Kanye and Just Blaze started flipping samples again and pitching up old soul records that people started really diggin' again...they brought it back into mainstream hip hop...and made it okay again..

Just go onto Soundclick and listen to all the cats on there and tell me that you don't hear the influence !

Kanye does use rhymefest as a ghostwriter(he helped write jesus walks)...

You're right...but he's not a ghostwriter...he was a CO-WRITER. Thats what I like about Kanye is he has a lot of humility when it comes to the music...like the fact that he had Jon Brion come in and co-produce his second album...I think it takes a lot of unselfishness as a platinum plus Hip Hop producer to call in another producer in hopes of making BETTER music...

What is happening to today's youth?

All you care about is the paycheck?

50 sells records. I could give a shit. He doesn't care about hip-hop. The only reason he starts up shit every so often is to keep people on the message boards speakin his name, to keep his name in the news, to keep his sales up.

Kanye (ghostwriter in 'fest or not) is a fuckin POET. THAT is about HIP HOP.

I've bought both records by both artists. For different reasons. 50 is good at what he does. Kanye is good at what he does. I enjoy every aspect of rap and hip hop. They are in two categories if you ask me so it's not worth comparing. Apples and Oranges.

As for whoever said he stole MURS style. .... That's a reach. Murs is comparable to emo rap. They call it backpacker / skater rapper. Whatever you want to categorize it as. Kanye is very witty, and obviously generates his music from poetry because almost everything has multiploe meanings. Murs is straightforward, and he is almost always telling a story. He's very good at telling stories. I own Albums from both artists.

As for the rhymefest ghostwriter comment. I think it was for one song. Jesus Walks. Both have come out and said that Rhymefest doesn't ghost write for Kanye. They are both very simaler. but they are both from Chicago and both are friends. rhymefest is like Kanye without the energy or passion and excitment that ye puts into his stuff. But Fest hasn't dropped his album yet so reserve judgment untill it drops.

Here's an idea. Kanye writes for Jay-Z. Now I have the utmost respect for early Jay. Fuckin amazing. I think towards Blueprint. He started getting Lazy. He starts using biggie lines ALOT, starts using slick rick lines alot, snoop dogg. You'll notice Post - Blueprint Jay-Z rhymes a little more simaler to Kanye. Even as far as the Late Registration verse " ... I'm not a business man, I'm a business, man!" Which to ME has Kanye written all over it. "5 years ago you was so FU-GEES, now you don't want nothin unless it a cost a FEW-GEE'S" - I could go on with more examples of Kanye lines like that. I'm just saying, either he tried to adapt to Kanye's style or Ye started writing for him. He seemed to be getting lazy and unmotivated (isn't that why he "retired"?) so I think he was like I don't feel like writing as much. Just a thought.

Trust me them mainstream niggas be listening to the undeground scene. where do you think they get ideas from?

1. 9th Wonder isn't his (murs) producer. They worked together on one project "Murs 3:16 The 9th Edition". That project happens to KICK ASS! but regardless. Up till that album they hadn't met, didn't know each other.

2. 9th hasn't been producing for Anyone (aside from LB), let alone Jay-Z for very long. If I recall he had one song on Black Album. I don't remember a 9th Wonder / Jay-Z track before that but my CD collection and liner notes got stolen so I can't look it up. Before that he was just barley up and coming because all the LB albums had been slept on.

3. Murs is different style than Kanye and a weaker artist. It would be worthless for Kanye to steal from Murs.

i dont know about that, i havent listened to his music apart from singles but just listen to a song like Heard Em Say... he covers "social issues" but some of his lines dont connect

eg "Can I at least get a raise of the minimum wage?
And I know that the governments administer aids"

"They say people in life are seasons
And anything that happen is for a reason
And niggas gun clapping and keep to squeezing
And Gram' keep praying and keep believing"

reminds me of Pac's style of saying a bunch of different shit going on in the hood within one verse... Kanye attempts that style but his verse structuring and lyrics are average (not poetic)

just my 2 cents
