Duck Down Entaprizez has inked a distribution deal with Koch. After 2 1/2 years of not having an outlet for their music, the artists are already in the studio recording material for a new Bootcamp Clik album, which is slated for an October 8th release. The label is home to such artists as Smif-N-Wessun, Buckshot, Blackmoon & others. Duck Down is planning to drop a Bootcamp Clik album, " Chosen Few," October 8th & will also serve as a distribution outlet for new artists. "This deal gives Duck Down the opportunity to give our fans more music than we have ever before," Dru Ha, CEO of Duck Down told AllHipHop.com
Earlier in the year, Smif-N-Wessun signed a deal with Rawkus, prior to label's problems with MCA. While the rest of the Duck Down artists will be distributed by Koch, Dru Ha said "Smif-N-Wessun will remain under the Duck Down / Rawkus / MCA umbrella. Rawkus has moved their album to 2003 release." Smif-N-Wessun will release a new single, "Spit Again," later this month.
"We are coming out of the box swinging," Dru continued. "The deal also provides us with the chance to grow as a label as we will offer artists outside the Boot Camp (who are seeking distribution and specialty deals) alternatives to the limited distribution choices that are available now within the industry."
