the porsche coupe is the only one out of the bunch that looks appealing, but that shit still costs like a regular two door porsche, $100,000+

Many definitions of a coupe and a sedan will define the coupe as a two-door or three-door model that is roughly equivalent to the sedan. A sedan almost always has four doors in contrast. Actually there are four-door coupes, and two-door sedans, so the differences between a coupe and a sedan automobile may not always be quite clear.

In reality, a coupe is strictly defined by its interior volume or space. Distinctions between a coupe and a sedan has little to do with doors and are made clear by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), which standardizes definitions of the different types of cars on the market. Measurements of a coupe and a sedan are as follows:

  • Coupe equals less than 33 cubic feet (.934 cubic m).
  • Sedan is equal to or greater than 33 cubic feet.
Thus a coupe and sedan can be determined by volume alone rather than being determined by number of doors. A two-door car with a larger than 33 cubic foot volume or interior space is essentially a two-door sedan. Likewise, a four-door car with less than a 33 cubic foot volume is a four-door coupe.

I like that Aston Martin and the Panamera. I wouldnt put the X6 in with those other cars, its more like a tall wagon or crossover SUV. Some call it fugly (<---)...

I feel what you sayin, but in this sense its more or less talkin about the design/style elements of the vehicle. Mostly talking about how the rear roof section slopes down like a traditional coupe would.

And that's the same reason why I put the X6 on that list because I feel that it falls into that category, even though it is an SUV.

And damn, I did forget all about the Lambo!!....

There's a few concepts that I left out also.

Lamborghini Estoque

And while Im at it....

Explain yourself then.

Your right about the "nothing new" part because what "I'm" talking about started in '06 and it is damn near 2010......so I guess 3 1/2 years wouldnt be "brand new"....but when automakers are still introducing them to this day, I'd say "new"

And the whole 4 door coupe thing actually started in the 60's with the first Maserati Tipo 107 Quattroporte....but it was more of a super sedan

But as far as it taking shape and really comming into its own.... Benz did "pop it off" with the CLS.

That my freind was the 1st of its kind.

saturn and mazda made coupes with 4 doors (quad coupes - lack of b pillar) way before the cls came out.

anyhow, sedans have more demand than coupes. car companies are trying to get that sale. thats why you see the g35 sedan and the coupe. the only thing is that these 4-door coupes have more sportier lines that you would usually only see on a 2-door.
