are any of you using any gear thats -10 db? if so what are you using to connect it with +4db gear.

Mo-X got it right...but you can use balanced gear such as a compressor or mic pre to get it balanced before your final destination

run your unballanced compressor let's say, to your balanced mic pre, to your mixxer...all gravy

kids... mmmm no. my sound card can switch between -10dbv and +4dbu so if I have a -10dbv signal coming in and my soundcard is set at +4dbu then the -10dbv signal is converted. but why are you asking questions to which you already know the answer? for your situation the direct box isn't what you need. you need a line level shifter, isn't that a bit obvious when the website says: "Ebtech Line Level Shifters: Solve your -10dBv to +4dBu problem" - i would think it's a bit obvious. and if you were a student of the game like you make yourself out to be, you would have known about line level shifters. i have one built into my card.

this feature is found on the majority of sound cards. i have it on the delta 410. so you use a soundcard to convert the signal. question answered but it doesnt help me.
but why are you asking questions to which you already know the answer?
im not asking questions to which i already know the answer. im asking the question because i wanted to know if someone could recommend a unit.
for your situation the direct box isn't what you need.
at this point in time i havent told you what the situation was so you cant tell me what my needs are. you dont know if this is for a LIVE venue or not. i havent listed what gear would be used. btw some direct boxes operate as level shifters. so yes it could be just what i need and more.
you need a line level shifter, isn't that a bit obvious when the website says: "Ebtech Line Level Shifters: Solve your -10dBv to +4dBu problem"
see the above.
i would think it's a bit obvious. and if you were a student of the game like you make yourself out to be, you would have known about line level shifters.
once again i was hoping someone could recommend a unit. if i DIDNT know what i was talking about or didnt know what was needed why would i post line level shifters and direct boxes? especially after NO ONE else posted anything about them?

AS FAR AS STUDENT OF THE GAME PEEP THIS. IM NOT PUTTING YOU ON THE SPOT BUT HOW MANY PEOPLE ON THIS SITE HAVE OPENLY ASKED YOU FOR HELP? COMPARE YOUR NUMBERS TO THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE OPENLY ASKED ME FOR HELP? I'VE HELPED PEOPLE WITH GEAR THAT I DONT EVEN OWN. NOT ONE PERSON ON THIS SITE HAS CAME BACK AND TOLD ME THAT I STEERED THEM INTO A FAULTY DIRECTION. IM PRETTY SURE THAT IF YOU LOOK OVER THE THREADS AND POSTS I HAVE DONE MORE HELPING AROUND HERE THAN YOU. NOT ONLY THAT BUT I HAVE PROBABLY HELPED *YOU* IN THE PAST. SIDE NOTE:

(RAGINHOMOSEXUAL ASKED ME ABOUT GUITARS. JUST BECAUSE I *DIDNT* REPLY TO HIM ON THE BOARD DOESNT MEAN I DIDNT REPLY TO HIM ON AIM.)
i have one built into my card.
i understand this and im able to do this with all 3 of my sound cards. however it isnt for my studio setup. i thought the majority of people who owned gear would have KNOWLEDGE of direct boxes, line level shifters and combo units. especially the people who went to school for recording and live sound. I didnt know that everyone who was into sound (music, recording, stage etc etc etc) used a COMPUTER/SOUND CARD to solve every problem.

you seem to be getting bent out of shape. This could be due the fact that i left out a bit of info. it might be the fact that i said "kids". if it was the kids statement it wasnt ment to offend. if I was trying to offend you i would OPENLY do so and YOU would know it. if its because i said you two arent getting the question its because you AREN'T. IM WILLING TO ACCEPT PARTIAL BLAME FOR THIS. I THOUGHT THAT SOMEONE WOULD KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT AND WOULD DIRECT ME TO A UNIT. ESPECIALLY PEEPS WHO USED LOW LEVEL IMPEDENCE MIXERS.

so let me rephrase the question

IS ANYONE HERE WORKING A LIVE VENUE? IF SO DO YOU USE A DIRECT BOX/LINE LEVEL SHIFTER? CAN YOU RECOMMEND SOME UNITS TO LOOK INTO? ARE ANY GUITARISTS USING A DIRECT BOX FOR HI-Z TO PLUG INTO A LOW LEVEL MIXER? IF SO WHICH UNIT?

not only did he help me with stomp boxes and guitars (which is what my thread was about) but he also helped me with choosing heads and cabs

^^^ you should look into getting a direct box yourself. route your guitars to the unbalanced input (of the di box), send it through the balanced output (of the di box) and into your mixers mic input. route the unbalanced output (of the di box) to the guitar amp and mic it.

oh yeah Heresey, i know you don't like colored equipment...
but you really should get into tube gear, cus unless you're spending 2 G'z on some solid state, you're not getting your moneys worth in my opinion

when I A/B solid state to tube gear, i always think the Solid State sounds best while tracking...and always think the Tube sounds too rough...then I A/B them, and WOW the tube sounds more musical, smooth, open...

it's the shit lol
i'm tryin to convert your CLEAN path

^^^ actually i LIKE tube gear . i've worked with a lot of tube gear before. its cool if the song calls for it. ive owned a presonus blue tube, a bellari, played with the ART tubes and just about everything else. i will tell ANYONE who goes the tube route to CHANGE the tubes. you change the tubes you get different tones. especially when recording guitars. heres one for you MOE. COLLECTIVE SOUL has a song called "DECEMBER". if you can find it peep it out. listen to the vocals for the verses.

@tha rippa SPIT BALL is gonna pick it out.

two products i WONT deal with. an MPC and ANYTHING made by those berhinger guys....
