Concepts - Where mixtapes are usually full of freestyles and random spits all jumbled together with clever punchlines, puns, word play and all that, it usually amounts to a bunch of nonlinear nonsense that listeners don't care to rewind (CROOKED I). If you're gonna take the time to record your voice, then explore a concept, tell a story, take a stand. i.e

The beat selections- It seems like all rappers these days completely wash their hands of their shitty beat selections and leave their projects in the hands of someone else, or they assume that their lyrics speak for themselves (K-Rino) .Granted mixtapes traditionally don't include original beats, still if you have to sample someone, sample something that jams and compliments your style.(Mitchy Duz it) i.e Nipsey Hu$$le

He dope, and i love all three of his mixtapes, but i find it hard to listen to him after i discovered mitchy slick(Yes i been sleeping on him this long). Even though they are one the same page, Slick just has that grown-up edge.

oh, and Crooked will rap circles around Nipsey, i wouldnt put them in the same category. Crooked is an intelligent MC while Nipsey is more of a gangsta rapper.

the thing he does have over glasses, jay rock and omar, he has hella eastcoast folks into his shit and people who normally won't fuck with westcoast music. i do feel he's pretty average lyricalwise but it gets his point across and also his flow

He goes in on song after song, ive never heard a wack nipsey verse...jay rock doesnt even make songs he just spits, most of his songs out are just freestyles over industry beats...glasses malone has a few knocks but idk why he be flowin over them south beats

just like Eunuch said nipsey got love on the eastcoast and alot of people are checkin for him...crooked i has bars for days but hes been here since deathrows prime and hasnt done shit..i dont think that will change

I don't know what it is about Hu$$le, I just can't get into his shit like I can with some of his other peers from LA. Nipsey's flow and the way he raps in just weird to me. I agree he he speaks on real shit and has above average lyrics, but I'm just not feeling his style. I wish him the best tho.

I disagree with you homie, Nip got the L.A. streets on lock homie. His grind is very strong. And he has a real good team around him, he is the next to blow period. He aborted a lot of people's careers that we're considered the next thing on the west from L.A. . You don't have to like it but you got to respect it.
